When Serena got back, she told Sebastian that she no longer had an assistant

Sebastian felt secretly pleased, but he kept it off his face and pretended to be nonchalant. “Do you want me to ask you department head to hire a female assistant?”

She smirked as she glared at him. “Are you sure you want to get the department head to hire one for me? What if the ten turns out to be a lesbian? Are you going to get rid of her too?”

He knew Serena still felt a bit resentful, so he rubbed his nose awkwardly. “My bad, Honey. Let’s not hire one. I’ll just have you department head give you less work instead.”

Hearing this, Serena didn’t know what to say. “You’re insane.”

In truth, she was only a little unhappy that Sebastian interfered too much in her work, even if he claimed it was for her own good. Fortunately, the man knew when to rein himself in.

Serena grew suspicious and waved her hand in front of her. “Lily? What are you thinking about?”

“What?” Lily snapped back to her senses. “Were you talking to me just now, Serena?”

Serena blinked. “Yeah. I was asking what you’d like to have for lunch. There’s a new place nearby–fancy grabbing a bite there? I’m not having lunch from home today.”

The two of them had always been great partners at work. They loved trying new spots around the office, and Lily was usually always up for a meal.

However, she unexpectedly turned Serena down.

Serena smiled. “No problem. Do you have plans for lunch?”

Lily’s gaze flickered guiltily. “Yeah, I’ll be meeting a friend. Serena, why don’t you join Candy and the others?”

Serena nodded thoughtfully.
