Chapter 450 A Dream That Ended
Sebastian paused mid–step and narrowed his
eyes.
Sometimes he felt like a creep.
That day, he had someone track down Serena’s account, then pretended to be a stranger and became her in–game partner.
Sebastian smoked the entire night and couldn’t sleep. He kept telling himself over and over that she was his nephew’s future fiancee. Then, he kept denying it again and again. Trevor doesn’t deserve her at all.
Just like that, Sebastian felt like he had spent the happiest vacation of his life.
Even his father noticed something was off.
“Sebastian, you haven’t gone to the company for a month.”
Sebastian gave a slight nod. “Yeah. I wanted to take a break. I’ve been having migraines lately.”
Bryce was shocked to hear that.
He insisted on dragging Sebastian to the hospital for a checkup. In the end, the conclusion was simple–he needed more rest and fewer late nights.
After that, Bryce stopped urging him to go back to work.
When Sebastian looked at the permanently greyed–out profile picture, his heart felt empty.
It felt like he had just woken up from a dream.
A month had passed, and the dream was over.
“Sebastian, Trevor’s engagement is tomorrow. Are you leaving today?”
Sebastian nodded calmly. “Yeah, Dad. Things are urgent over there. The earlier I go, the
better.”
Bryce sighed. “Alright then. Just remember to come back for the New Year every year. Take care of yourself out there.”

Sebastian nodded lightly and told the driver to head to the airport, but without thinking, he made a detour to the Steele Residence.
The pale little face he remembered wasn’t there, disappointing Sebastian, who went straight to the airport.
No one knew that two years later, Sebastian quietly returned to the country once.
On a summer night filled with the sound of cicadas, the girl on stage looked taller. The baby fat on her face was gone.
She stood under the spotlight.
The stage was simple, but in Sebastian’s eyes, she shone.
He stayed hidden in the crowd, yet to him, she stood out more than anything. She didn’t know that he didn’t like listening to songs.
He mostly listened to instrumental music, but in his phone’s music app, there was one song had played ten thousand times–her voice from that day.

Sebastian never expected that at the age of thirty–three, he would appear on the same marriage certificate as the girl he loved most.
That year they got married, it had been eleven years since he started liking her.
The night before he left, Sebastian wanted to drink. Drinking alone felt too bitter, so he called Julian, who was just as troubled.
“Tell me. What’s wrong with me? Why didn’t she choose me?”
Sebastian glanced at him sideways and sneered in his heart. He hadn’t been chosen, so it made perfect sense that Julian wasn’t either.
“Who do you like?” Sebastian asked, a little curious.
Julian glanced at him and kept quiet. He couldn’t say it. “What about you? Are you troubled by love, too?”
Sebastian didn’t answer. He just poured himself another drink.

They both had their own thoughts and their own problems. Right then, they just wanted to get drunk and forget everything.
Julian was the first to pass out.
The driver took him back to his apartment.
