The two of them said their goodbyes, both silently understanding that once they got home that night, they would each tell their families the same thing–that they weren’t suitable for each other.

Just as Winona walked out, Austin happened to call.

“Hello, Austin.”

“How did it go?” he asked in a calm voice.

“Not great. I’ll tell Mom tonight that we didn’t click, and he didn’t like me either.”

“Alright, but Mom called me this morning. If this one doesn’t work out, she’s planning to arrange another one for tomorrow.”

“Can’t you help talk some sense into Mom?” Winona groaned miserably.

Austin sighed helplessly. “Winona, I can barely save myself.”

She nearly forgot that Austin was still single too.

Meanwhile, Sawyer went to deliver food to Elijah.

He couldn’t understand his weird obsession with only eating food from Maple Bistro. Even if that was the case, someone could’ve just delivered it.

Why did he have to be the delivery boy himself?

He looked at the leftovers in his hands with a wicked sense of amusement, and for some reason, it felt oddly satisfying.

“Come on. Eat up.”

Elijah glanced at it with mild disdain. “The dishes from this restaurant aren’t that great. And the portion too–why is there only half

a bowl?”

Sawyer cleared his throat. “It’s because they were short on ingredients today. Demand was higher than supply practically fought someone to get this portion.”

Elijah tooked suspicious and raised his left eyebrow “Oh really?”

“Come on, Elijah. You should be grateful there’s anything to eat at all.”

Elijah hadn’t eaten the night before, and after spending a bit of energy, he had slept straight through until the afternoon.

He just wanted to fill his stomach first before going to find Winona. He had already made up his mind that he was going to cling to her no matter what.

Suddenly, Elijah thought of the blind date candidate sitting in front of him. “Sawyer, you didn’t secretly go on a blind date with my wife behind my back, did you?”

Sawyer’s breathing stalled. How did he know?

“How could that be? Am I that kind of person? That’s too much. I have absolutely zero interest in your wife. Don’t worry. Our families are just close, that’s all. Once I explain things to my family, they won’t force us anymore.”

Elijah frowned unhappily. “What do you mean, no interest? My wife is that beautiful, and you think she’s not good enough for you?”

“Are you crazy?”

Elijah gave a soft scoff. “So, your family’s pressuring you that badly now?”
