“What?” Yvonne and Kyana practically shrieked in unison.
“Dad, did Serena put a spell on you? Are you crazy?” Kyana stared in disbelief.
Why should Mom apologize to that b*tch in public? How’s Mom ever going to show her face again?
Kyana’s complete lack of restraint finally pushed Donald over the edge. His expression went cold. “Kyana, is that how you talk to your father? And stop calling her ‘Serena‘ like that every other sentence–she’s your sister. You represent the Steele family when you’re outside. If you keep acting this disrespectfully, you’ll only embarrass us. There’s nothing more to discuss. Figure it out yourselves.”
With that, Donald headed upstairs.
Kyana stood frozen after the scolding, feeling utterly wronged. Tears welled in her eyes. “Mom, how could Dad do this? Why is he taking that b*tch’s side?”
“Enough!” Yvonne’s expression wasn’t good either. She was overwhelmed herself and had little energy left to soothe her daughter. “Kyana, stop calling her that. Do you want to hand people more dirt on us?”
A cold gleam flickered in Yvonne’s eyes. “She’s not driving us out that easily. This isn’t over. I’d like to see how far a woman who offended the Levine family gets acting tough.”
After leaving her father, Serena headed to the law firm. She was busy until the afternoon before she noticed that Sebastian had called her. She stepped into the pantry to return the call.
Inside the meeting room, the man–cold as frost a moment ago–thawed instantly when he saw her name on the screen. “Pause for a minute. I need to take a call.”
Mason looked like he’d seen a ghost. Since when does the boss walk out of a meeting halfway through to take a phone call? This has never happened–ever!
The other executives exchanged uncertain glances. Did something major happen?
