Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 573

“Don’t lie to me!” Amara said. “I know you love acting! Keith, I know you’re doing this for me, but you can’t!”

Her voice grew heavier with each word. “You go back and tell your parents clearly that you are not leaving the entertainment industry, and you will not join their business. The only person who gets to decide your future is you!”

“If they try to withhold the documents, then let them. It’s not the end of the world. We’ll find another way!”

She could find someone else for a marriage of convenience. Or, failing that, she could just give up on the Sullivan family shares. She couldn't let Keith's career be destroyed for her sake.

It was her battle to fight for her inheritance, and she wouldn’t drag Keith down with her.

Keith, who had been trying to coax Amara into a better mood, instantly soured when he heard her words.

“No. It’s already been decided. As soon as I finish my current commitments, I’m retiring and going into the family business. I’ll make more money that way anyway, so why not?” he said, his brow furrowed.

“Amara, I’m not just doing this for you, but for myself too. You don’t need to feel burdened by it.”

When Nathan first laid out the terms, Keith had been shocked and couldn't accept it.

But after a long night of consideration, he had come to terms with it. He realized that Amara was more important to him than acting.

If he listened to her and didn't retire, Edith and Nathan would surely block their marriage by withholding the necessary documents. And what would Amara do then? She would find someone else for a sham marriage.

That would sever the only path they had to be together. He couldn't let that happen, so he would never agree to her demands.

Nora returned to Liliana’s dressing room, handed her what she needed, and began tidying the table with a troubled mind.

Liliana was also at the event today, and as her assistant, Nora had naturally come along.

A moment ago, while running an errand for Liliana, she had passed another dressing room and heard faint sounds of an argument. Curiosity drew her closer, and she had heard those heated words.

Even though the door was closed, she could recognize the voices. It was Amara and Keith, arguing. It sounded like they were having a disagreement about their marriage. What could be going on?

“Nora, organize these earrings and pick out a pair that will match my dress for tomorrow. I’m going to the restroom,” Liliana said.
