Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 609

Liliana was taken aback.

Finnian’s reaction was way off. He was always reserved with his emotions, but now he seemed almost unnaturally calm—too calm. When Amara had gone on a trip out of town, Finnian had been downcast for days, barely able to hide how upset he was. And when Amara was set to marry Keith, he’d had a huge reaction then, too.

Now Amara had a child with another man—this was hardly a trivial matter—so how could Finnian not react at all? Could he have already known about Amara’s child? But how would that be possible? If he’d known Amara had a child, why would he still have feelings for her?

Liliana’s mind was a mess, but she couldn’t let it show. Forcing a smile, she said, “It’s nothing. I was just checking in. I was worried you might be upset about that.”

Finnian’s expression remained indifferent. He didn’t respond.

Liliana bit her lip hard, unwilling to back down as she stared at Finnian.

Yet Finnian’s composure didn’t falter for a moment. He was the picture of calm—but when it came to Amara, he’d always been the exception. The more she studied him, the more Liliana was convinced: he had to have known about Amara’s situation all along!

Then why would he still be interested in Amara? Liliana screamed internally.

Just then, a gray car approached from down the street and eased to a stop at the curb.

It was a luxury vehicle worth nearly a million dollars. Both Finnian and Liliana turned to look as the door opened, and Keith stepped out.

Finnian’s expression changed instantly. As Keith walked over, Finnian moved to intercept him, his voice icy. “What are you doing here?”

“What’s the point of calling her?” Finnian said coldly. “This is my house. Only those I allow inside get in.”

He wasn’t wrong, but Keith clearly intended to come in.

With a look of disdain, Keith was about to retort when suddenly the front door of the villa opened. Mr. Kevin Everly appeared, leaning on Lisa’s arm and using a cane.

“You must be Keith, here to see Ama? Come in, come in,” Mr. Everly called out warmly, extending his hand as he approached.

Caught off guard by Mr. Everly’s friendliness, Keith instinctively shook his hand and said, “Hello, sir. I’m Ama’s fiancé. I’m here to see her.”
