Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 625

“What are you doing? Are you really questioning your own mother because of her? Do you think she matters more to you than your own mother?”

Keith closed his eyes for a moment, feeling a surge of frustration. He couldn’t understand how his mother had become so unreasonable—had he underestimated this side of her all these years, or was it, as some of his colleagues whispered, just a result of her hitting menopause?

“I don’t want to argue with you. I never said I care about Amara more than you. You’re my mother—you’ll always be the most important person in my life,” he said, doing his best to stay calm.

He thought those words might help Edith feel better, but she clearly didn’t believe him at all. Her eyes blazed as she snapped, “Don’t try to butter me up with these sweet words! I have eyes, I know what’s happening. You obviously care more about Amara now. You don’t even care about your father or me anymore!”

As she spoke, Edith slapped the table, her anger reaching a breaking point.

Keith was truly angry now, but even more, he felt helpless.

He walked Amara to the door and said, “Let me talk to my mom. You should go.”

That afternoon, he had come to the office to work. His secretary told him Amara had arrived, but since she hadn’t come to see him, it was clear she was here for Edith instead. He had immediately hurried to Edith’s office.

Sure enough, when he opened the door, he’d found the atmosphere tense and combative, which put him in a bad mood right away.

Amara nodded. “Alright, I’ll head out. Let’s talk later.”

Her staying would only make Edith even angrier. It was better to let Keith handle things.

Amara left Edith’s office, quietly closing the door behind her. Even so, she could hear the heated argument erupting inside. With a silent sigh, she decided it was best to leave.

She headed to the elevator, lost in thought. As she reached the elevator doors, she noticed a familiar face waiting there—Morgan.

Chapter 625 2

He must already know about her pregnancy, and since he’d once said he was interested in her, seeing him now felt even more awkward.

“Mr. Bishop, I appreciate the offer, but I have something else I need to take care of. Maybe another time,” she replied with a polite smile.

Chapter 625 3

Amara hadn’t really thought Morgan would keep pursuing her—after all, she was pregnant, and what man would chase a woman in her situation?

But seeing how genuine he was, the awkwardness faded.

Amara smiled and said, “How about I treat you this time? Last time you paid, so it’s my turn.”
