Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 628

Morgan’s eyes sparkled mischievously as he suggested, “Mr. Everly, would you like to join us for dinner? This place is truly excellent—we both think the food is fantastic.”

Finnian replied coolly, “Of course it’s good. I was the one who brought her here in the first place.” With that, he pulled out the chair beside Amara and sat down.

His possessive tone left Amara feeling awkward and embarrassed. What was he trying to accomplish? And Morgan—why did he have to invite Finnian to join them? Was he just trying to stir up drama? Amara gritted her teeth in silent frustration.

Morgan only smiled faintly, saying nothing further as he continued chatting with Amara.

Determined to ignore Finnian, Amara treated him like he was invisible and kept her focus on Morgan.

Naturally, Finnian grew even more annoyed and began interrupting their conversation whenever he could.

Finally, Amara couldn’t take it anymore. She shot Finnian a cold glare, which finally shut him up. Morgan watched the scene unfold, a subtle, unreadable smile playing on his lips.

When dinner was over, Finnian attempted to pay the bill, but Amara stopped him, her voice cold. “I’m treating Morgan tonight. Don’t interfere.” With that, she firmly pushed past Finnian and went to settle the bill herself.

While Amara was at the counter, Finnian approached Morgan, his gaze frosty. “Even if she’s treating you, weren’t you the one who invited her out? What are you after?”

Morgan smiled. “I’m not interested in pursuing Amara anymore, Mr. Everly. You can relax.”

There was a flicker of amusement in his eyes.

“Mr. Everly, you really care about Amara, don’t you? Does it not bother you that she’s pregnant? And why are you marrying Liliana?”

Finnian’s expression grew darker.

So Morgan had given up on Amara? Well, it made sense—she was pregnant, after all. Morgan’s reaction wasn’t surprising.

And with his wedding coming up, it was even less appropriate for them to keep meeting alone. It was better to make things clear ahead of time.

Without looking at Finnian, Amara turned and headed upstairs.

Finnian followed, catching up to her on the stairs and blocking her path. Amara had no choice but to stop and look up at him. “Is there something else?” she asked.

He was already half a head taller than her, and now that he was standing a step above, he looked down at her from an even greater height, silently studying her.

After a long moment, Finnian finally spoke, reaching out to take her arm. “Why?” he asked quietly. “You don’t want to see me?”
