"Dorian, even if you don't care for her, she's sacrificed so much for you. Could you at least think about her health for once?"
Dorian felt a deep ache in his chest. "I do care about her. Actually, I've loved Elysia for a long time—I just didn't realize it myself. I really do care about her."
He spoke these words softly, unsure whether he was saying them for Amara's sake or to convince himself.
Amara shook her head. "No, you don't. If you truly loved her, you wouldn't treat her like this. Just go."
It was the third time she'd told Dorian to leave. Dorian looked at Elysia's pale face, his heart wrenching with guilt.
At that moment, a head timidly peeked out from the infusion room. A plaintive voice called, "Dorian, are you out here?"
It was Jessica. Amara looked up at her, her gaze dark and intimidating.
Dorian immediately stood and strode over to Jessica. "Why are you here? You need to leave. Now."
His voice was sharp, and Jessica's eyes instantly filled with tears again.
A vein pulsed in Dorian's temple. Noticing Amara's cold stare, he realized he couldn't stay any longer. "I'm leaving. Stay here with Elysia," he said before walking away. Amara ignored him and turned her head aside.
Dorian practically dragged Jessica out of the hospital, his face grim and closed off.
"Go home. Call yourself a cab," he said, his tone flat and unyielding.
Dorian had never treated her like this before. Whenever she left somewhere, he would always make sure she got home safely—either driving her himself, sending his driver, or at least calling a cab for her. But now, he was just telling her to go, with nothing more.
This time, Jessica actually started crying.
If her earlier tears had been for show, these were real.
