Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 675

But this also showed, in its own way, that Amara truly no longer cared about Finnian. Only when you stop caring entirely can you really let go of the past...

Amara thought for a moment. She couldn't just let Emma keep making a scene here—what if all this stress actually made Mr. Kevin Everly ill?

She walked over, gently took Mr. Kevin Everly's arm, and led him aside.

“Grandfather, maybe you should really consider what Mrs. Emma Everly is saying. After all, this is the biggest event in Finnian’s life. Are you really going to refuse to let them host the pre-wedding dinner at the family estate?”

“Finnian holds an exceptional position in Wye’s business community. If word got out that Mr. Everly himself can't even host a celebration at his own home, what would people think?”

“Don’t you think I have a point, Grandfather?”

In truth, Mr. Kevin Everly had been wrestling with this for days. Even though he’d insisted he wouldn’t acknowledge Liliana or let either her or Emma step foot in the family home, a wedding was a once-in-a-lifetime event for Finnian.

And, just as Emma had said, no matter how much he disapproved of Liliana, Finnian truly loved her.

If he kept things so tense with Liliana, would it end up driving a wedge between him and Finnian?

Finnian was the grandson he’d watched grow up with his own eyes, the one he’d raised himself, the one he cherished most. Did he really want their relationship to become distant?

Mr. Kevin Everly let out a heavy sigh. He really was in a tough spot.

“Ama, let me think about it.”

“All right, Grandfather. Let me help you to the kitchen for some breakfast first. You’ll need your strength to think clearly.”

Amara, wanting to lift his spirits, helped Mr. Kevin Everly to the dining room. She personally brought him his meal, and as they ate, she told him jokes, making him laugh out loud.

The servants carried Emma in, settled her in a room, and called the family doctor, who quickly came to treat her.

Emma soon regained consciousness. She gasped for breath, lying on the bed and staring at the ceiling, taking a while to realize what had happened.

When she saw Mr. Kevin Everly and Amara at the door, she immediately sat up, crying, “Father, please forgive me! I know I was wrong before—I won’t act that way again!”

“Please let me come home, and let Finn host the dinner here. He’s the chairman of a major company! If word got out that he couldn’t even have his pre-wedding dinner at home, how humiliating would that be?”

Emma’s loud pleading gave Mr. Kevin Everly a pounding headache.

But thinking back to what Amara had said, and all his own worries over the past few days, he couldn’t help but sigh.

He waved his hand in resignation. “Fine, I agree. I agree.”
