Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 678

Even though Finnian now held the position of chairman of the Everly Group, Mr. Kevin Everly remained the true patriarch of the Everly family. As soon as he appeared, many people gathered around to greet him, and he responded with a warm, genial smile.

At that moment, someone nearby asked, “Is that Amara? She’s so beautiful. Is she here for Mr. Everly’s pre-wedding dinner as well?”

Mr. Kevin Everly took Amara’s hand, his face radiating a gentle, grandfatherly affection.

“This is Ama, my god-granddaughter. She’s been staying at home with me lately, keeping this old man company. She’s such a thoughtful and caring girl—I’ve told her she’ll have to take care of me in my old age…”

So Amara was Mr. Kevin Everly’s god-granddaughter…

There had long been rumors about Amara’s close relationship with Mr. Everly, and now it was confirmed. The way people looked at Amara immediately shifted; after all, with the Everly family’s elevated status, even the title of god-granddaughter was something precious. Several people started to approach her and offer their greetings.

Just then, Emma entered, bringing Liliana with her.

Although she was displeased by Amara’s presence, the evening had to go on as planned. Emma held Liliana’s hand and led her over to Mr. Kevin Everly.

“Dad, this is Liliana, our family’s future granddaughter-in-law. I’m sure you’ve met her before,” she announced cheerfully, before turning to Liliana. “Liliana, say hello to Grandfather.”

It was Liliana’s first time being formally introduced to the head of the Everly family as Finnian’s future wife, and she was a bit nervous but excited.

She offered her trademark graceful and poised smile. “Hello, Grandfather. My name is Liliana. From now on, we’ll be family. I promise to treat you with respect and care. If I make any mistakes, I hope you’ll let me know.”

Mr. Kevin Everly glanced at her and gave a noncommittal “hmm.” He nodded at Lisa, who immediately produced a red envelope and pressed it into Liliana’s hand.

Just then, a woman with striking features but a sharp, severe expression stepped forward.

Her eyes were cold and unfriendly; despite her beauty, there was a chill to her presence that put people off. This was Amelia.

Amelia walked to the front of the group, looked Amara up and down, and suddenly gave a cold laugh. “Did you come here by yourself? Weren’t you supposed to be getting married? Why are you here alone? Oh…”

As if something had just occurred to her, she covered her mouth in exaggerated surprise. “Oh, I almost forgot. Your wedding’s been called off, hasn’t it? Because the news broke about you being pregnant before marriage, and he dumped you. Hah…”

She covered her mouth and laughed, her voice dripping with mockery.

After Amelia’s remark, several others in the crowd who disliked Amara turned to look at her, their eyes filled with open scorn.
