As Finnian recounted the story, Amara’s heart pounded wildly in her chest.
She knew exactly which incident Finnian was talking about—the woman he had pulled into that room that night was her.
Noticing the change on Amara’s face, Finnian continued, “The drug was so strong, I don’t remember many of the details. I didn’t even remember who the woman was.”
“When I woke up, I saw Liliana sitting beside me. She didn't seem to be wearing anything, just clutching the blanket to her chest. There was even a small bloodstain on the sheets. Instinctively, I thought the woman I’d been with must have been Liliana.”
Amara’s head snapped up in shock.
No wonder, after she left that night, she never heard about Finnian looking for anyone. Turns out Liliana had secretly entered that room?
When exactly did Liliana go in? Was it after she left, but before Finnian woke up?
Finnian went on, “Because Liliana was the person I saw when I woke up, I assumed she was the one who saved me. Then, a month later, she told me she was pregnant.”
“I thought Liliana had rescued me and was now carrying my child. Of course I felt responsible, so I stayed with her for that period of time.”
“But I never slept with her, so it was obvious the pregnancy was a lie. Eventually, Hogan found out she wasn’t actually pregnant.”
“Hogan pressed Liliana to tell the truth, but she kept stalling. In the end, with nowhere else to turn, she claimed she’d had a miscarriage to explain things away. But the real truth about that night, I still didn’t know.”
