After considering for a moment, Amara looked up and said, “When I first joined the Everly family, Grandpa did pay more attention to me, and he was very loving toward me. But his love for Finnian never diminished in the slightest.”
“As for why he grew distant from you, it wasn’t just because of me, but also because of the mistakes you made.”
“Think about it. When I first arrived, didn’t you treat me with a lot of hostility? You mocked my looks, gave me the cold shoulder in front of others, and were always trying to make me leave.”
“You and Hogan both acted that way toward me, which is why Grandpa’s feelings for both of you grew colder during that time. But his attitude toward Finnian never changed, because Finnian never treated me like that.”
Amara actually understood Mr. Kevin Everly quite well.
Mr. Kevin Everly’s likes and dislikes were always obvious and straightforward. If he liked someone, he would lift them up to the skies; if he disliked someone, he’d cut them down without hesitation. He was never one to hide his feelings.
Celeste was stunned. So the reason Grandpa stopped caring for her as much was also because she’d been so cruel to Amara?
If back then she hadn’t shown so much malice and had welcomed Amara sincerely, would Grandpa still care for her like he used to?
As she stood there lost in thought, a sense of regret began to creep over her.
Amara glanced at Celeste, noticing that she seemed to be slowly understanding.
But in the end, that had nothing to do with her. She had no feelings about Celeste anymore; why should she care if Celeste figured things out or not?
She turned to leave, but Celeste called out to her again, “Amara!”
Amara turned back. “Yes? Is there something else?”
