With that, Liliana hung up.
Amara didn't believe for a second that she would actually be interested in whatever Liliana had in mind.
What good intentions could Liliana possibly have, especially toward her?
But she had to admit, her curiosity was piqued. Figuring the script revision wasn't urgent, she got up, changed her clothes, and went to the address Liliana had sent: a coffee shop just outside the university district.
It was the dead of winter. Liliana wore a red sweater with a black skirt, a trench coat of a similar dark shade draped over her shoulders. She stood ramrod straight against the biting wind, looking utterly glamorous.
Compared to her, Amara's attire was plain.
With a fresh, makeup-free face, Amara was bundled in a thick white down jacket, jeans, and snow boots. Her outfit was unremarkable.
But with a face like hers, she didn't need any embellishment. As Elysia used to say, Amara could wear a burlap sack and still look beautiful.
Since she was only meeting Liliana, she hadn't bothered to dress up and had left the house casually.
She walked up to Liliana. "Where are you taking me?"
She glanced at the coffee shop beside them. It was an exquisitely decorated and unique place, but surely Liliana hadn't invited her just for a cup of coffee.
"Let's take a walk through the campus," Liliana said with a smile. "That was my university. This is the start of the main thoroughfare, and the school prohibits outside vehicles from entering. That's why I set our meeting spot here."
Liliana pointed to a campus area a few hundred yards away.
Liliana was a little surprised.
Amara was a smart woman; she must have realized Liliana's motive for bringing her here. Yet, Amara's face was perfectly calm, and she agreed without a hint of hesitation. How could she be so composed…
Liliana pressed her lips together, pushing aside her jumbled thoughts. She put on another smile and led Amara toward the campus.
Though pregnant, Amara regularly did prenatal yoga and went for walks, so her stamina was excellent. Walking a few hundred yards was no strain at all, and her pace was as steady as Liliana's.
As they entered the Vanguard Media Institute, Amara took a look around.
She had actually considered applying here back in high school. After all, her childhood dream had been to become a screenwriter, and the institute's screenwriting program was renowned.
