Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 857

Amara slammed on the brakes. The tires screeched against the pavement as the car jerked to a halt. She gripped the steering wheel, glaring at the man through her windshield, her blood boiling.

After the explosive fight they had on set today, why on earth was he here? Did he have a death wish?

Finnian watched her car approach. She had been driving smoothly until she spotted him, and the violent, screeching halt made his heart sink.

The car idled in the street. Inside, he could see her gripping the wheel, clearly gritting her teeth in sheer irritation.

Knowing she was too angry to step out on her own, he pushed himself off his car, strode over, yanked her door open, and pulled her out.

“Why did you stop?” he demanded, his voice thick with tension. “Are you really that desperate to avoid me?”

Ever since she screamed at him to get lost that afternoon, the dynamic between them had fractured.

Actually, the shift started the night before, after their bitter argument at the coffee shop near Elysia's place.

Amara glared at him, refusing to give him the satisfaction of an answer.

He used to be gentle with her. He used to coax her, treating her with a careful, almost pleading tenderness.

But the man standing before her now was dangerously volatile. He was sharp and aggressive, like a blade fully drawn from its sheath.

Enveloped in his dominant aura, a chill ran down her spine. Despite her heavy coat, goosebumps erupted across her skin.

Refusing to show an ounce of fear, she raised her chin defiantly. “I don't want to see you. Is that a crime?”
