"What on earth is going through that head of yours?" Amara asked. "Are you scared I'm going to jump back into the raging dumpster fire that is Finnian? Not a chance."

Her tone was absolute.

"Trust me, I am never getting back together with him."

She still had the photos Liliana had sent her saved on her phone.

Yes, Liliana was his savior. It made sense that he would rush to the hospital when she was hurt, and hold her to comfort her when she was crying.

Logically, Finnian hadn't done anything inherently wrong, but she had absolutely zero desire for a husband like that.

Every time she felt even a twinge of sentimentality toward Finnian, she just looked at those photos to snap herself back to reality.

One glance, and any lingering feelings vanished.

Seeing her unwavering resolve, Keith eyed her suspiciously. "Really? You don't want to be with him at all?"

Amara frowned. "What, you don't believe me?"

Noticing her annoyance, Keith knew she was telling the truth.

Half of his anxiety evaporated. He smiled, "No, of course I believe you. It's Finnian I don't trust."

"Now that he knows you're pregnant, he's definitely going to keep hounding you. I was just worried his endless begging might eventually wear you down."

"If he dares to pull a stunt like that, it won't just ruin his reputation—it'll drag down the entire Everly Group. Once he weighs the pros and cons, he'll definitely back off."

He pitched the idea with total confidence, while Amara's jaw dropped in disbelief.

With the chaos of the past two days, she had almost forgotten that Keith harbored feelings for her. His proposal brought it all rushing back.

It put her in an awkward spot, but she didn't want to lose him as a friend or make things weird. So, she shoved him again and rolled her eyes dramatically.

"Stop right there. Don't think I don't know what you're trying to pull," she scoffed. "Hurry up and find another girl to fall for. Stop pining after me. Your family would never approve of us anyway."

Keith felt a sharp pang in his chest, but he hid it behind a theatrical display of heartbreak, shouting dramatically, "Ouch, that hurts! Ama, we've been best friends for years. Don't I at least get priority in the dating pool?"
