Though he could see her sorrow, Keith was secretly overjoyed.
He had accepted that Amara was carrying Finnian's child, but accepting it wasn't the same as liking it.
If she went through with this, he would be ecstatic. He desperately wanted her ties with Finnian completely severed.
"Sometime in the next few days," Amara said. "I'm already pretty far along. I need to do it as soon as possible, or the physical toll will be too severe."
Keith nodded, just about to offer to go with her, when a knock echoed through the room.
One, two, three. The rhythm was steady and authoritative. They both instantly knew it was Finnian, and Amara shot to her feet, her eyes locked on the door.
Seeing her reaction sent a spike of jealousy through Keith. He knew exactly who was outside.
She could identify the man just from his knock? How deeply did she have him memorized to react like that?
Even if she refused to be with him, her feelings for Finnian clearly ran deeper than she would admit.
Keith marched over and yanked the door open. Finnian stood there, holding several high-end paper bags filled with premium food.
Keith purposefully blocked the doorway, offering a sarcastic smirk. "Well, if it isn't Mr. Everly. What brings a big-shot CEO out here in the middle of the day? Don't you have a company to run?"
Finnian shot him a freezing glare. "I'm here to see Amara and my baby. Is that a problem?"
