Under the Veil I Rule (Amara) novel Chapter 891

Finnian looked at her without speaking, his gaze ice-cold.

Liliana bit her lip and asked, "Finnian, do you really have absolutely no romantic feelings left for me? We shared so many beautiful memories in the past. Have you forgotten all of them?"

She continuously tried to manipulate him, hoping to awaken whatever fond memories of her he might have buried deep in his heart.

They had briefly dated in the past. Although the passion hadn't been intense and Finnian hadn't been head-over-heels in love with her, he had harbored some affection for her.

Liliana knew very well that if he hadn't felt even a shred of affection, Finnian would never have agreed to date her purely out of obligation.

Finnian quietly looked out the window, fully sensing Liliana's attempts to manipulate him.

He was a shrewd man; how could he not see through her petty schemes? He hadn't exposed her in the past simply because he hadn't wanted to.

His continued silence made Liliana panic.

She repeatedly went over her words in her head, wondering if she had said something wrong.

Once she was sure she hadn't slipped up, she relaxed slightly and waited for his answer.

After two minutes of silence, Finnian withdrew his gaze and looked at her. "Liliana Porter, I know exactly how those trending topics ended up online over the last two days. Stop entertaining these pointless delusions. Just focus on recovering from your injuries. I'll cover the medical expenses for your hospitalization and surgery."

"..."

Liliana's eyes widened.

What had she just heard?

He hadn't brought it up before simply because he hadn't wanted to tear down the facade. But now that those rumors were causing him trouble, he had taken the initiative to open a Twitter account and clear the air.

Liliana slowly widened her eyes, genuine panic finally setting in.

"Finnian," she asked, "are you washing your hands of me? Will you ever come to see me again?"

By bringing up the trending topics, it felt as though Finnian was drawing a permanent line between them, and it terrified her.

Finnian nodded. "I won't be coming to see you anymore. Take care of yourself."

In a flash, the tightly wound string inside Liliana finally snapped. It felt as if a massive boulder had crushed her, knocking the wind completely out of her.

All her suppressed anger, heartbreak, despair, and jealousy erupted at once. She couldn't hold it in any longer.
