Finnian held his gaze, his tone laced with deep respect. "Mr. Sullivan, please let me explain. A month before the divorce, I was drugged at a business dinner. Amara was the one who saved me."
"But she left before I regained consciousness. I had no idea it was her that night, and I had absolutely no idea she was pregnant."
Larry frowned sharply and looked at Amara, silently demanding verification.
Amara gave a curt nod, confirming Finnian wasn't lying. Larry turned his sharp gaze back to the younger man.
"After that, we proceeded with the divorce," Finnian continued. "Once the papers were signed, I finally realized the depth of my feelings for her and began pursuing her, but she constantly rejected me."
"Eventually, I discovered she was pregnant, but I didn't know the child was mine. I assumed... well, it doesn't matter. I just learned the truth recently."
"That is why I was so furious when I found out she sneaked out to abort the baby today. That is why I had to stop her."
Finnian laid out the chaotic timeline with total transparency. Larry's brow furrowed into a deep V. He sat in silence, processing the messy revelation, clearly still unappeased.
Finnian entirely understood his hostility.
If he had a daughter who was put through this kind of humiliating ordeal, he would be out for blood.
His tone grew even more sincere and deferential. "Mr. Sullivan, I am deeply in love with Amara, and I want nothing more than to remarry her."
"I've been trying to win her back for a while now. I want to make her my wife again, stand by her side through the pregnancy, and welcome our baby together."
"I want to build a complete, loving family with her. We can have a happy life together. Mr. Sullivan, I mean every word of this. I'm asking for your blessing and support."
Hearing this romantic speech, Amara felt her blood boil before Larry could even respond.

Yet she knew her father. Larry was a deeply rigid, traditional man.
Finnian was wealthy, powerful, and her ex-husband. On paper, it was the perfect fix. Larry was more than likely going to order her to march back to the altar.
The anxiety gnawed at her.
Bang!
Larry violently slammed his palm against the mahogany table, making everyone jump.
He pointed a furious finger at Finnian. "You slept with my daughter, didn't bother to find out who it was, and then blindly divorced her?!"
