As Amara spoke, Finnian kept his eyes fixed on her face. Her tone was incredibly calm, but the calmer she appeared, the more terrified he became.

He didn't want her to be this composed. He would rather she complain to him, tell him how miserable she had been those three years, and demand compensation.

He would rather she hit him and curse at him than treat him with such chilling indifference.

"Amara, what do you mean by this? Are you giving me a death sentence?" Finnian asked, staring at her.

"I hurt you deeply in the past, so let me spend the rest of my life making amends. Can't I do that?"

The phrase "the rest of my life" made Amara's heart tremble slightly.

She immediately turned her head away, not wanting him to see her panic.

Then she said, "Make amends? Mr. Everly, don't say that. I told you, you committed no crime. It's just that, emotionally, I was hurt, and that damage cannot be repaired."

"So, let's drop the subject. You should leave, Mr. Everly."

Finnian didn't say another word, but he stood at the door, refusing to leave.

Amara bit her lip and shoved Finnian's shoulder. He stumbled backward. Staring at his chest, she shoved him again, finally pushing him out the door.

"Just go. Stop lingering here. I won't be with you, and I will find a way to get rid of this baby."

Amara had been feeling down, but seeing Keith comfort her with such solemnity suddenly made her laugh.

After a bit of casual banter, her mood lifted. She stood up. "Are you hungry? I'll make us something to eat. You can leave after dinner."

After such a chaotic day, Amara wasn't sure if Keith was hungry, but she certainly was. She decided to cook something.

Keith could see she was exhausted. He stood up and said, "You rest. I'll cook. Is there anything in the fridge?"
