Having set a time, Charlene arrived at City Hall the next morning. Thorne was punctual, having even arrived a little earlier than her.

The process was straightforward and smooth. Once they were finished, Thorne looked at her and said, "Minnie wants to go out on the boat in a couple of days. Are you free?"

Charlene paused for a moment before replying, "I'm not sure. We'll see."

Thorne didn't press her. "Alright."

Without another word or a backward glance, Charlene turned and walked away.
