Granger, of course, had come to the banquet for Charlene. When he reached her, his gaze softened. "It's been a while."
They had just seen each other last month at a government-hosted business conference, so Charlene didn't think it had been that long. But since he'd said it, she smiled back politely. "Long time no see."
Knowing she was still technically married to Thorne, and sensing her attitude toward him was cordial but not quite friendly, Granger kept their conversation professional. He didn't want to overstay his welcome, so he avoided any personal topics.
Charlene was busy. After a brief chat with Granger, she and Stewart moved on to network with other guests. Granger watched her back as she walked away, his eyes lingering on her for a long moment.
Charlene was so focused on work that she paid Vesta's group no mind. They, however, were watching her every move. Stewart was one of the city's most eligible bachelors, and countless women at the event tried to get his attention, but he deflected them all, remaining steadfastly by Charlene's side.
Leah and Rhoda watched with sour expressions, forced to admit that Stewart was truly devoted to Charlene. Maureen's hand tightened imperceptibly around her wine glass.
As the banquet drew to a close, Charlene and Stewart prepared to leave. Her eyes briefly flickered toward Vesta's group before she dismissed them and walked away. To Leah and the others, that fleeting glance felt full of contempt and triumph.
Leah was seething. "What is she so smug about? Let's see how long she can keep it up!"

Gosh, this is excruciating ! The slow pace made me leave this for over 3 months. Was just taking a peek and not much development. Btw they have now made this into a 3hr 40 min long drama.Available on daily motion under, the name, next chapter without you. But all the other fringe characters such as York Granger Gaylord are missing in the movie. Ending is very satisfying, practical and apt. She chooses to leave thorne and jasmine and be with Stewart. Vesta and family are inter national wanted Criminals. Not sure if they replicate the same on here. As this book is now on the app for more than 9 months, have a feeling it'll be another 6 to 9 months before this is completed!...

I know its ur story and u obviously have ur own plot line and all and have every right to build the story as u like but what writer provide isnt just entertainment, but they shape the narrative of young minds. So I would say that romanticing cheating is, or rather THORNE'S behaviour, wrong for all the reasons..give york a chance ..that will be way more satisfying...again all of this is just my point of view but if charlene and thorne get back together, its not the story im looking for...
