Both Henley and Vesta were left in stunned silence. Even Leah Spencer could see what was happening. Thorne was signaling that he no longer wanted to spend his own money on them.
She couldn't accept the change. "How could he do this to us?"
The others looked equally grim. None of them had expected Thorne to handle things this way.
Rhoda, seeing their somber expressions, forced a laugh. "Well, no matter what, he still helped us, didn't he? Without him, we might not have secured any investment for the projects at all."
While that was true, the way he helped felt more like a perfunctory gesture to get Vesta off his back. Even Rhoda knew that, compared to how generous he used to be, this felt downright cold.
Seeing that everyone remained worried, she tried again. "In any case, at least he hasn't broken up with Vesta. I think there's still a chance to fix things, right, Vesta?"
Vesta lowered her eyes, saying nothing. Honestly, she couldn't read Thorne at all anymore. She had no idea what he was thinking.
Besides, his change in attitude toward Charlene had started long ago, not just recently as the rest of the family believed. His feelings for Charlene were probably a lot stronger than any of them realized.
Henley and the others knew Rhoda had a point. But Thorne's withdrawal was so obvious, and his pursuit of Charlene so aggressive, that it seemed he had little affection left for Vesta. He was likely just putting off the breakup out of respect for their shared history.

Gosh, this is excruciating ! The slow pace made me leave this for over 3 months. Was just taking a peek and not much development. Btw they have now made this into a 3hr 40 min long drama.Available on daily motion under, the name, next chapter without you. But all the other fringe characters such as York Granger Gaylord are missing in the movie. Ending is very satisfying, practical and apt. She chooses to leave thorne and jasmine and be with Stewart. Vesta and family are inter national wanted Criminals. Not sure if they replicate the same on here. As this book is now on the app for more than 9 months, have a feeling it'll be another 6 to 9 months before this is completed!...

I know its ur story and u obviously have ur own plot line and all and have every right to build the story as u like but what writer provide isnt just entertainment, but they shape the narrative of young minds. So I would say that romanticing cheating is, or rather THORNE'S behaviour, wrong for all the reasons..give york a chance ..that will be way more satisfying...again all of this is just my point of view but if charlene and thorne get back together, its not the story im looking for...
