This escalated way beyond simply "venting anger."

Finnian racked his brain, but for the life of him, he couldn't decipher Sebastian's true endgame.

Then again, Sebastian was the CEO, the heir to the Vance empire, and the golden child of the Beckett family. He had every right to be as ruthless and capricious as he wanted. As a mere employee, Finnian knew it was best to keep his mouth shut.

Finnian knew how to read Sebastian, but the reverse was equally true.

Looking at Finnian's blank expression paired with those rapidly darting eyes, Sebastian knew his assistant was spiraling into wild conspiracy theories.

Sebastian enjoyed the silent panic for a moment before dropping a leading question. "Do you want to know?"

Finnian snapped back to reality. He met Sebastian's gaze, scanning for any hint of a trap. After a brief internal struggle, he asked cautiously, "Am I allowed to know?"

Sebastian spread his hands in a lazy shrug. "That's entirely up to you."

"..."

Finnian decisively shook his head. "Never mind. Maybe another time."

Sebastian was not a benevolent man. The fact that he was suddenly acting so generous and practically begging Finnian to ask meant he was walking straight into a minefield.

"Do you need anything else?" Finnian clutched the folders to his chest, retreating into total professionalism. "If not, I'll head out."

Sebastian gave a curt nod.

Finnian turned on his heel, made it exactly two steps, and stopped. "The media storm online... do we keep pushing it?"

Sebastian looked up, and for a fraction of a second, Finnian caught a terrifying, glacial chill in his eyes.

But when he blinked, Sebastian was back to his usual, dangerously bored demeanor. "Use your discretion. Since the public outrage is already boiling over, just toss a little more fuel on the fire."

"Understood. I'll get on it."
