After getting the details from Meredith over the phone, Julian put on his coat, preparing to head to the office to handle the fallout.

Vivian grabbed her crutches to walk him out, but Julian stopped her. "Your leg isn't fully healed. Try not to walk too much."

Vivian refused, insisting on walking him to the door. "It's just a few steps. It's fine."

Julian was about to protest, but Vivian pressed a finger to his lips, looking crestfallen. "It's just one crisis after another at the company. You're so busy, and I don't know when I'll see you next. I just want to spend as much time with you as possible, even if it's just a minute or two."

Despite her clear disappointment, Vivian kept a brave smile on her face, supporting him in both word and deed.

It felt as if a boulder had suddenly dropped onto his chest, making it hard to breathe.

Julian took Vivian's hand and pressed kiss after kiss into her palm.

Without saying another word, he took her crutches away and, ignoring her confused look, swept her up into his arms.

Vivian quickly wrapped her arms around his neck, looking at him in surprise. "Julian?"

Julian didn't answer. He carried her to the entryway, set her down gently on a stool, and placed the crutches beside her.

"Standing is uncomfortable. Sit and keep me company." Julian sat down next to her and leaned in for a kiss. "But you'll have to make your way back by yourself in a bit."

Understanding his intention, Vivian smiled sweetly and shook her head. "I don't mind."

Julian grabbed his dress shoes and started putting them on.

He hadn't deliberately hidden his phone call with Meredith from Vivian. Even though she couldn't hear clearly once he walked away, she had pieced most of it together from their conversation.

Seeing that Julian didn't want to burden her or talk about it, she hadn't asked. But there were certain thoughts and suspicions Vivian simply couldn't keep buried.

"Julian." As he finished tying his shoes and stood up to adjust his coat, Vivian finally couldn't hold back. She asked cautiously, "Do you have any idea who did it?"

Julian paused, thought for a moment, and shook his head. "Not at the moment."

"Why do you ask?"
