Once the thought took root, Julian couldn't think of anyone else.

But he couldn't fathom Elara's motive.

If she had seen those documents, she definitely would have seen the divorce agreement too.

Knowing Elara's personality, she wouldn't have just taken it lying down.

She would either throw a massive fit and demand to rewrite the terms if she really wanted a divorce, or she would sue him directly, just like she had sued her own father on her mother's behalf all those years ago.

She wouldn't be pathetically trying to make him stay.

Just days ago, she had poured her heart out, saying she and their daughter needed him, asking him to spend more time with them. She had even started wearing makeup and dressing up to catch his attention, all in an attempt to keep him.

That meant Elara didn't actually know about the divorce yet. She was just worried he might abandon them and was trying her best to prevent it.

Most importantly, Elara had been out of the workforce for over four years. Even four years ago, she wouldn't have had the capability to dig up so much dirt in such a short time, let alone bypass everyone to hand the evidence straight to the director's office.

Vivian watched as the expressions on Julian's face cycled from realization to anger, then to confusion, and finally to relief. She knew he had someone in mind but had talked himself out of it due to the lack of logic.

But this was enough.

Once the seed of doubt was planted, it would grow out of his control.

"It was just a guess." Knowing when to quit, Vivian didn't push him further. She smiled and changed the subject. "We'll only know the truth once it's properly investigated."

Julian nodded in agreement. He smoothed out his coat, tied his scarf, and leaned down to kiss her again. "Leave it to me. Just focus on recovering and don't worry too much."

Vivian replied obediently, "Okay."

Julian opened the door and left her apartment.
