Julian's expression shifted slightly, and he instinctively glanced at Vivian.

Meeting his gaze, Vivian gave a subtle shake of her head, silently communicating that she hadn't said a word.

Taking in their silent exchange, Thomas let out a dismissive scoff. "The chaos in your household is making massive waves. You might be able to suppress the media and fool the public, but do you really think keeping it from our circle is that easy?"

Thomas's words were brutally blunt, laced with utter disdain for the sloppy mess Julian and his mother had created.

The fact that Julian had fumbled something so trivial planted serious doubts in Thomas's mind about the man's competence.

If Vivian hadn't fiercely defended him—insisting Meredith was solely responsible for the botched execution—Thomas's main priority right now would be figuring out how to ruthlessly sever this relationship without breaking his daughter's heart.

Julian's face grew tight, but he had zero room to defend himself. He stood tall and took the reprimand like a subordinate. "You're absolutely right. I handled it poorly."

Thomas scoffed again, preparing to twist the knife, but Vivian suddenly stood up on one leg, hopped over to the sofa, and clung to her father's arm. "Dad, it's too early in the morning for you to be this angry. Whatever you want to say, Julian and I will listen nicely."

Thomas: "..."

I haven't even started yelling yet!

His daughter was fiercely shielding Julian. If Thomas insisted on tearing into him, it would only end in a bitter fight between father and daughter.

Thomas glanced down at Vivian's injured knee and finally swallowed his harsh words.

"Sigh."

Thomas exhaled heavily and turned his piercing gaze back to Julian.

Julian stood straight, fully bracing himself for the onslaught.

Thomas stared at him in heavy silence for a moment before forcing his tone to remain level. "I won't waste my breath on your corporate mess. Let's talk about you and Vivian."

Julian stiffened.

"Vivian tells me your little schemes were all for the sake of giving her a better future."

Thomas cut straight to the point. "I believe your sincerity. But have you ever considered how agonizing this waiting game is for Vivian?"

Julian had asked Vivian this exact question multiple times. Every single time, she had assured him it was fine, that she was willing to play her part and wait for him. He had assumed she was genuinely okay with it.
