He didn't have a discreet bone in his body. Anonymous mailing was completely off-brand for him.
Shaking her head at her own absurdity, she chased the ridiculous theory away.
Out of everyone she could suspect, why pin it on the most unlikely candidate?
Just because they used the same tech brand and hunted down Julian's infidelities?
"Headache?"
Catching her movement from the corner of his eye, he dropped his bag and strode over. "Are you feeling sick?"
"No, no."
She waved him off quickly. When his worried frown deepened, she offered a vague excuse. "I was just lost in thought. Sorry to worry you."
Realizing what she had just been thinking, she felt a flush of guilt as she met the gaze of her prime suspect. Instinctively, she clutched the drive and hid her hand behind her back.
Sebastian's predatory gaze was locked onto her; not a single micro-expression escaped his notice.
But when he realized it was the flash drive she was hiding, his racing heart abruptly slammed the brakes, hovering in limbo.
The words died in his throat. He blinked, pretending he bought her excuse, and dropped the subject.
Too busy trying to cover up her awkwardness, Elara remained completely oblivious to his reaction.
"Here's the Kingsport police report."
He handed her a manila envelope. "The hotel records are in there too."
Placing the flash drive on the desk, she took the envelope.
"Have a seat," she offered.
She motioned to the armchair before settling onto the sofa across from him and breaking the seal.
Sebastian was incredibly thorough. He had organized everything flawlessly before handing it over: times, locations, motives, headcounts, and even the names of the people who bailed them out of the precinct.
She skimmed through the pages, absorbing the details before sliding them back into the envelope.
