Elara instinctively squinted against the sheer, radiant energy pouring off him. Before she could even fully process what was happening, Sebastian had stepped inside, laden with bags.

"Good evening."

Sebastian had a terrifying talent for charming people, regardless of their age or gender. When he was a child, he used to coax smiles out of Juliet effortlessly. After he lost her, he had locked that part of himself away.

Now, he was unleashing the full, unchecked force of that charm entirely on Elara.

He greeted her with perfect manners. Noticing she was wearing incredibly modest, thick fleece pajamas, he immediately averted his eyes with gentlemanly precision, focusing strictly on her collar as he offered an agonizingly polite apology.

"I'm so sorry, I had no idea you were already ready for bed."

His hands dropped to his sides in a show of helpless regret, his entire bright demeanor deflating in a split second. He looked exactly like a golden retriever that had just been caught chewing up a favorite pair of shoes.

"I shouldn't have texted you this late, let alone imposed on you like this," he continued to grovel.

The truth was, after securing Maddox's reluctant approval, the sheer adrenaline of his victory made it utterly impossible for him to stay away. He had to see her.

If he didn't, he wouldn't sleep a wink.

Elara, who had been completely blinded by his initial entrance, was now thoroughly disoriented by his sudden, dramatic apologies. Without overthinking it, she reflexively fell back on polite reassurances. "It's fine, really. I wasn't asleep yet."

Sebastian instantly resurrected. He shed the "miserable and guilty" act in a heartbeat, his face lighting up with a brilliance that practically demanded a wagging tail. "Really?"

He exaggerated a sigh of relief, patting his chest with the hand still clutching a grocery bag. "Thank God."

Elara: "..."

Without missing a beat, Sebastian made himself completely at home. "Where do you want these? Straight into the fridge?"

It was only then that Elara registered exactly how much he was carrying. There were at least five or six heavy insulated bags, plus several bursting grocery totes.

It had to weigh dozens of pounds.

She stared in sheer disbelief. "Why on earth did you bring so much?"

Sebastian offered a self-deprecating smile. "Maddox practically shoved it at me."

He hoisted both arms slightly to give her a better look. "And this is only half of it."
