Meanwhile, the deeply scarred, bitter ex-wife would spend the rest of her life enduring the judgmental stares of everyone around her, forever trapped in the shadow of that trauma, completely stuck in the past.

Elara had managed to pull herself out in the early stages. She had protected her own sanity from being completely drained, shielded her daughter from the fallout, and fought tooth and nail to reclaim the marital assets that rightfully belonged to her.

Getting cheated on and divorced wasn't what made people point fingers; being left destitute and living a miserable life was.

This was a massive victory, something worth throwing a party over. Why would anyone consider it losing?

Of course, she didn't need to explain all of this to Vivian.

"Think whatever you want," Elara shrugged, clearly unbothered. "If it makes you feel better to think I lost, then consider me the loser."

Vivian was speechless again.

It was like throwing a punch into thin air. Forget causing any pain, Elara probably didn't even feel it.

Elara couldn't be bothered to psychoanalyze Vivian. She just looked at her and said, "If you came here for an answer, are you satisfied now?"

Vivian just stared at her in total silence.

Elara continued, "If you are, then don't bother me again. I'm very busy. I don't have time to waste on you."

She was intentionally ending the conversation. If Vivian didn't have anything else to say, she was leaving.

Elara stopped and gave her plenty of time to respond.

But Vivian just stood there, completely silent.

Elara uncrossed her arms, pushed off the door frame, and stood up straight.

She turned and grabbed the door handle, but paused just as she was about to open it. She looked back at Vivian.

Vivian instinctively tensed, assuming Elara was about to drop a bomb.

"Oh, right," Elara said smoothly, ignoring Vivian's defensive posture. "If you can, put Julian on a tight leash. Tell him to stop interfering in my and my daughter's lives."

Vivian was stunned.

"Better yet, tell him to stop calling altogether. Melody is trying her hardest to get over her attachment to her dad. Tell him to stop making it harder on her."
