Sarah didn't buy it, but Elara didn't push the issue.

She also didn't want Sarah wasting time going in there to deal with Vivian.

"Let's go," Elara said, grabbing Sarah's hand and pulling her toward their office. "We still have a ton of work to do. Let's get back to it."

"...You're way too laid back about this," Sarah grumbled, letting herself be dragged along while throwing anxious glances back toward the conference room. "Are we really just leaving her?"

"No need to worry. She'll leave on her own when she's ready."

Are mistresses really this polite nowadays?

Sarah wanted to ask more, but they were already at the office door.

Elara pushed it open, shoved them both inside, and shut the door tight, locking all the irritating drama out in the hallway.

She had a long future ahead of her. Her new life was just beginning, and she had so much to accomplish.

Wasting excessive time and energy on pointless things meant she would just have to work twice as hard later to make up for it.

No matter how she looked at it, she would be the one losing out.

Vivian didn't actually stay much longer.

Right around the time Elara and Sarah made it back to their office, she finally snapped out of her daze. She grabbed her bag and walked out of the law firm.

It wasn't that she had some grand epiphany. In fact, even after she got home, her mind was completely reeling. She just couldn't wrap her head around Elara's thought process.

She had left the firm quickly simply because she didn't want the staff treating her like a circus act.

She had taken a sick day from work, claiming she needed to get her knee checked.

Julian had been so worried that he gave her the entire day off, telling her to go straight home and rest after the appointment.

Instead of going to the hospital, she had headed straight to the law firm to confront Elara.

She thought it would take all morning, but she ended up leaving in under thirty minutes.

What shocked her even more was that she had actually gotten the answer she was looking for.

Even if she didn't fully understand it, it gave her a massive sense of relief.

At the very least, she wouldn't have to constantly worry about Elara playing dirty tricks behind her back to steal Julian's attention again.

They shared a daughter, and lately, Julian had been staring at pictures of Melody more and more. If Elara decided to use the kid to lure him back, it would be ten times easier than the pathetic victim act Vivian had used.

Vivian still couldn't comprehend Elara's choices, but for some inexplicable reason, she truly believed her.

She was oddly certain that Elara would keep her word.

Because of that, all Vivian had to do was wait for the divorce to go through, and then she could marry Julian.

Thinking about it, Vivian wanted to just tell Julian directly: Stop fighting the lawsuit. Just give Elara whatever assets she wants, and I'll cover whatever we lose!

Then, they could just sign the papers and be done with it.

That way, she and Julian could get married immediately.

It would save time and hassle, and it would be the best outcome for everyone.
