Elara looked from him to the folder, not immediately taking The Ark Valuation Assessment. "When did you have time to put this together?"

Sebastian didn't bat an eye. "Recently."

Elara didn't know what to say.

He was managing an empire every single day, had just flown halfway across the world for an emergency business trip, and somehow still found the time to run a comprehensive acquisition assessment on Ark Solutions?

Then again, considering the army of corporate elites employed at Vance Dynamics, having a dedicated team expedite a financial assessment wasn't entirely unbelievable.

"You can take your time looking it over," Sebastian said, sliding the folder closer to her. "If anything is unclear, just ask."

Elara looked down at the document, making no move to refuse it.

Seeing this, Sebastian effortlessly added the final hook. "If you need financial backing, or if you need personnel, just say the word."

Elara met his gaze. She looked at him for a long, calculating moment before finally picking up the file. "Thanks."

Sebastian smiled warmly. "Don't mention it."

Having successfully delivered his "confession" for the day, Sebastian wasn't greedy enough to push for more. Knowing exactly when to retreat, he stood up. "Well, I should say goodnight."

Given his brutal itinerary, he really did need to go home and catch up on his sleep.

Elara stood up as well, casually setting the folder on the dining table. "I'll walk you out."

Sebastian didn't refuse. He grabbed his briefcase, retrieved his tailored coat from the rack, and led the way toward the front door.

Melody, who had been helping Jocelyn sweep the kitchen, saw Sebastian heading for the exit. She dropped the broom and trotted over. "Are you leaving already?"

"I am." Sebastian stopped, waiting for the little girl to run up to him. He crouched down, gently ruffling her hair. "I need to go home and catch up on my sleep. I'll see you next time, okay?"

"Okay."
