Especially since she had made this choice while fully aware of the dynamics between the Vance and Beckett families.

Jocelyn couldn't put her mind at ease; in fact, she was more worried than ever.

But Elara had always been strong-willed. Jocelyn trusted her daughter to handle it. Fretting blindly over it wouldn't help.

"Alright."

Jocelyn let out a heavy sigh. "I know you always have a good head on your shoulders. You deal with this however you see fit."

Elara gave her a reassuring smile. "I will. Please don't worry."

Jocelyn patted her daughter's hand once more. Turning on the range hood, she took off the pan's lid, stirred the meat with her spatula, and cranked up the heat to thicken the sauce.

After plating it, she washed the pan, heated it up again, and started on the next dish.

Elara helped carry the plates out to the dining room, grabbing silverware and setting the table.

Though Melody was watching TV, she had been keeping an eye on the kitchen. Seeing Elara setting the table, she immediately paused her cartoons and trotted over to help.

Elara told her to go wash her hands while she served bowls of soup for the three of them.

Jocelyn finished cooking the rest of the meal and brought it over. The soup had cooled just enough to drink. Once she sat down, they started dinner, chatting warmly about their plans for the next day.

Seeing his arrival, the butler immediately instructed the staff to serve the food.

Meredith Beckett helped Maddox out of his room and into the dining area. Seeing the festive boxes in Julian and the maid's hands, her eyes flickered. She instinctively tried to block the older man's line of sight, but it was too late.
