"No arguing with me," Jocelyn said, deliberately putting on a stern, mock-threatening face.

Fearing he might be too embarrassed to accept it, she added, "If you don't take this, I'm returning all those Holiday Provisions. I'll make you carry every last box right back out that door!"

Perhaps because his own body ran so fiercely hot, that brief contact quickly warmed Jocelyn's chilled fingers. That sudden flare of warmth seeped right through his palm, traveling straight up his veins until it hit his chest, making his heart ache with a suffocating wave of emotion.

Sebastian fell silent for a moment. Shedding his hesitation, he accepted Jocelyn's gift with quiet grace, his voice incredibly tender. "Thank you, Jocelyn."

"Happy Holidays to you, too."

Jocelyn patted the back of his hand affectionately before letting go.

Sebastian pulled open the heavy security door, his gaze finding Elara and lingering with a profound intensity. "I'll be going now."

"Drive safe," Elara said softly.

Sebastian nodded and walked out without looking back.

If he lingered even a second longer, he feared he'd never want to leave.

Once Sebastian was gone, Elara and Jocelyn locked the door and headed back inside.

The holiday dinner was practically finished. They only needed to wait for the braised meat sauce to reduce and quickly stir-fry some greens.

Back in the kitchen, Jocelyn secured the lid on the Grand Consommé and started finalizing the table settings for dinner.

Elara busied herself organizing the mountain of premium fruit Sebastian had brought.

She set aside a small portion for them to eat, meticulously wrapping the rest in paper towels and storing them in airtight bags in the fridge.

"Mom, when did you even prep that envelope?" Elara asked, unable to hide her curiosity.

"I got it ready last night."

Jocelyn kept her eyes on the simmering sauce. "I assumed Harrison would be dropping the food off today. I was planning to ask him to pass it along."
