The professor stepped into the room and immediately noticed three girls seated near the front. Placing his materials on the table, he smiled brightly and said, “So, you three are the ones admitted into the Agriculture Department.”

The boys around the room instantly broke into laughter. One of them added loudly, “Professor, they’re the pride of the Agriculture Department-our three golden girls!”

The entire classroom was filled with laughter.

Zoey snapped fully awake at last. Rubbing her head, she muttered, “Ava, next time choose seats by the side. Sitting here is like putting yourself on display. There’s no way to slack off.”

The professor let out a soft laugh. “Alright, that’s enough. Let’s begin the lesson.”

Ava pulled out her notebook and textbook. She had stayed up late the previous night to prepare for this class. However, once the class began, she quickly realized the professor wasn’t following the textbook at all

He spoke smoothly and naturally, completely departing from the material. The content he explained differed slightly as well, yet his reasoning was far more direct and structured than what was written in the book-much clearer and easier to follow.

Only then did Ava truly grasp the reputation behind Starry Heavens University. Compared to Larkwell Academy, the difference in teaching quality was immense. No wonder the university was infamous for its high failure rate. If every professor taught like this, it would be no surprise students struggled to keep up.

Ava focused and wrote notes throughout the entire lecture. Zoey, on the other hand, only paid attention for half the class before drowsiness returned. She was dying to doze off but didn’t have the nerve, so she just sat there, eyelids drooping, pretending to listen while her mind drifted far away.

The class ended before long. As Ava packed her things, she noticed/several students crowding around the professor to ask questions. Some even pointed out that his lecture differed from the textbook.

The professor glanced at the book with visible disdain and said bluntly, “That textbook? One of my former students compiled it-and poorly at that. I don’t use it. If you want, you can treat it as a reference.”

Ava was speechless.

Clearly, the university’s high failure rate wasn’t without reason.

After parting ways with Zoey and Noelle, Ava hurried to another building. Her next major lecture was also taught by her mentor, Theodore.

She arrived early, finding only a handful of students already seated. When they saw her, they greeted her warmly.

Ava chose a seat near the front center and waited quietly.

Gradually, more students entered. When Gabriel spouted her, his eyes lit up. He quickly walked over and asked, “Ava, is this seat taken?”

She glanced at him and shook her head. “No.”

“Mind if I sit here?”

“Go ahead.” After answering. Ava turned her attention back toward the door.

Gabriel sat down with clear excitement, placing his belongings on the desk.

From the back row, someone whispered, “Gabriel isn’t even hiding it anymore. His feelings are written a over his face.”

Another voice replied, “Who wouldn’t like someone like Ava? But I know my limits. Admiring from afar is enough. Even if I had the chance, I couldn’t protect her. As for Gabriel? He should look at himself before thinking he can win her over.”

“Keep your voice down. What if he hears you?”

The bell rang, and Theodore entered the room right on time. His gaze swept across the class before lingering on Ava for a brief moment. Resting one hand on the podium, he said, “Ava, take attendance.”

Ava stood, walked up, picked up the list, and began calling names after scanning the room.

Once she finished, no one was missing.

Theodore gestured for her to return to her seat, then addressed the class. “Let me be clear about my rules. Earning credits in my course won’t be easy. Unless you have a valid reason, don’t request leave. If you skip more than three times without justification, you’ll lose your right to take the final exam. Your grade will be

zero.”
