Chapter 256 Choosing a Club

Linden’s brows drew together as he looked at him. “Don’t make jokes like that.”

Elio lifted his shoulders casually and arched his brows with a teasing smile. “Alright, I’m just talking nonsense. You don’t think anything like that at all-all you have with her is just pure friendship.”

He leaned in slightly, still grinning. “Linden, I’ll say this again. If you keep being so stiff and distant around girls, you’re never going to have a chance.”

With that, he gave Linden’s shoulder a light tap. “I’m going for another lap.”

Linden stayed rooted in place, fingers tightening around the towel as if he had turned into stone.

Naomi noticed her right away and called out. When Ava came over, she pressed a breakfast packet into her hands. “I just bought this for you from the cafeteria. I figured you probably haven’t eaten breakfast yet.”

Ava took it quickly, smiling brightly. “Whoa! Naomi, you’re too considerate. Thanks.”

While eating, Ava glanced around and asked, “Weren’t those girls flooding the group chat earlier and rushing me here? Why are you the only one around? Where are they?”

Naomi let out a small laugh. “You know Zoey-she’s basically a sleeping princess. Noelle’s probably still trying to wake her up. As for Malory… who knows, maybe she’s about to show up with a totally different vibe today.”

Ava smiled. “Didn’t you take Malory to a stylist yesterday? The stylist must’ve prepared a custom look for

her.”

“I did,” Naomi admitted. “Honestly, I’m looking forward to seeing it too.”

They continued chatting while waiting for the others. Ava finished her breakfast and tossed the wrapper into a nearby bin.

All around them, people moved through the square. The noise swelled like waves, and club recruiters shouted nonstop, trying to attract new members and promote their groups.

The goal of the day was simple-choose a club. Ava, however, wasn’t particularly interested; she was just there to hang out with her friends.

Noelle and Zoey arrived later than expected. Zoey still looked half-asleep, while Noelle immediately complained, “Getting her out of bed almost killed me.”

Then she glanced around. “Where’s Malory? She’s not here yet?”

Right as she spoke, Malory’s voice came from behind them. “Noelle, are you talking about me behind my back?”

Ava turned instantly. The moment she saw Malory standing nearby, her face lit up. She rushed over,

circled her once, and exclaimed, “You look incredible! This is so much better than before-you can actually pull off this lovely, adorable style!”

Naomi nodded in agreement. “Seriously, it’s a huge upgrade. It suits you perfectly. You’re giving/off that ‘dream girl’ vibe people talk about online. Yeah, that’s exactly it.”

The group laughed and joked for a while before drifting toward the center of the square.

“Goddess Society! Join Goddess Society and become the prettiest girl on campus!”

“Hey, come check out Goddess Society!”

“Drama Club! Join us and become the leading actress!”

“Hello! We’d love to have you in the Drama Club-our club president is…”

“Dance Club! Come join the Dance Club!”

Malory stopped in front of the Dance Club booth, clearly interested. The recruiter immediately brightened when she saw her and her friends, launching into an enthusiastic pitch about the club. By the end of it, Malory looked completely convinced.

Since she already loved dancing and had a solid foundation, she signed up on the spot and filled out the form.

“What about you girls? Do you want to join too? Our club president even won an interstellar dance championship.”

Ava quickly stepped back, waving her hands. “I’m just here with her-she already joined.”

Noelle and Zoey also refused. Naomi looked tempted but still hesitated. The recruiter immediately shifted focus and began persuading her instead.

Ava moved aside so she wouldn’t block others, and Noelle and Zoey followed her. Zoey crouched down, resting her face in her hands.

“I’m kind of jealous of people who can dance,” she sighed. “I really can’t dance. My body just won’t cooperate-my limbs feel all stiff and awkward. My mom even sent me to classes back in the day, but after a few years, she said I looked less like I was dancing and more like I was performing some weird ritual. I never went back after that.”

Noelle laughed so hard she nearly bent over. “I still remember our Children’s Day performance. Everyone else was dancing normally, but you looked like you were completely frozen.”

Zoey jumped up immediately and grabbed her shoulders. “Why are you bringing up my embarrassing past again?”
