Chapter 326 Meeting Wenzel

Around noon, Ava noticed a message from Keith.

“My mother has a senior colleague who’s a very well-known specialist in psychology. I can help arrange an appointment for you.”

Attached beneath it was a screenshot of the man’s profile. He really was a respected expert in the field.

Ava stared at it for a long moment before finally replying with a single word, “Okay.”

The appointment was scheduled for Thursday at nine in the morning, so Ava requested leave ahead of time.

Mason drove a light-armored vehicle over to pick her up, and Ava opened the door and climbed inside.

She looked fairly composed today, which eased him a little.

“You came back?” she asked. “Weren’t you still away for work, pushing that new project? Finished already?”

Mason started the vehicle. “Not yet. I came back early.”

Then he turned to look at her, his expression unusually serious. “Work will still be there. But being here with you matters too.”

Ava smiled faintly, leaned her head against the window, and said nothing more.

After parking, Mason came around to her side. This time he did not reach for her hand. He only met her eyes and said, “We’ll go up together.”

They rode the elevator upstairs, and it was only when they arrived outside the psychologist’s office that Ava realized several people were already there.

A flash of surprise crossed her face. “Why are all of you here?”

Everyone had shown up except Laurent, who was still away on a confidential assignment.

Her eyes moved across each of their faces one by one. “I could’ve come here by myself.”

Keith lifted a hand and knocked on the door. “We didn’t have anything urgent going on, so we came to keep you company.”

“Come in.”

Keith turned the handle and pushed the door open.

The office beyond was bright and airy, decorated simply. There was a seating area for visitors and the walls were painted a soft cream-white.

The space was divided into two parts. The outer room looked almost like a lounge, while a second room lay farther inside. Through the glass, Ava could see a desk and work area beyon

Wenzel Washington had already noticed them. He stepped out from the inner office, looked over the group, and said, “You’re all here? Sit wherever you like.”

As he spoke, he even made the coffee himself.

Ava sat down on the couch, her nerves quietly tightening.

Once everyone had settled, Keith introduced them one by one to Wenzel.

Wenzel gave a small nod, then looked at Keith. “When your mother contacted me, I was a bit surprised.”

Then his attention shifted to Ava. “The two of you look very well matched.”

After a little more polite conversation, Wenzel finally turned to the real matter. “Ms. Morren, come inside with me.”

Ava stood up.

Wenzel glanced once more at the others. “What we’re discussing concerns her personal privacy, so you’ll need to wait out here.”

The men, who had just started to rise as if to follow, sat back down.

Ava went in with him.

Noticing how tense she was, Wenzel smiled and said, “We’re only talking today. No need to pressure yourself, alright?”

Ava nodded and took the seat inside.

Wenzel was the sort of person who made others relax without effort. There was something in the cadence of his voice, calm and steady, that naturally lowered a person’s defenses before they even noticed it happening.

He did not begin with that incident.

Instead, he asked about her childhood, her family, the atmosphere she had grown up in, the life she had lived all the way until now. Even small memories from her earliest years-things Ava had thought she no longer remembered-slowly resurfaced.

Wenzel listened the entire time, guiding her gently whenever necessary and making notes as she spoke.

Without realizing how it had happened, Ava eventually found herself talking about that event too. Even she was surprised.
