Chapter 345 I Want to Be Close to You
Keith looked at her with clear admiration and spoke without hesitation, “You look really beautiful.”
Ava curved her lips slightly. “Thanks.”
He pushed himself up from his seat. “I’ll grab some sunscreen for you. The sun’s pretty harsh-you’ll get burned”

Before she could respond, he was already heading into the inner cabin at a light jog. Not long after, he returned and lifted the sunscreen spray in his hand, tilting it slightly as he smiled at her. “Do you want me to help you apply it?”
His intentions were written all over his face, yet he still bothered to put on a polite front and ask.
Ava met his gaze. He was smiling, but there was a subtle intensity behind it. He claimed he was bringing sunscreen for her, but the
bottle in his hand never once moved as if he intended to hand it over.
“I’m guessing your back could use some help too,” Keith added, trying to mask what he actually wanted.
Ava glanced briefly toward the sun overhead, then shifted her eyes back to him.
That single look was enough-Keith realized she had already seen through him. In the next instant, he abandoned the softened act, reached out, and gently took her fingers. “I just want to be close to you… I can’t help wanting to get closer.”
He pressed her hand against his chest while holding her gaze steadily.
Ava pressed her lips together for a moment. “Alright.”
She lay down face-first on the lounge chair. Keith hooked a finger under the thin strap at her neck and sprayed sunscreen across her shoulders and the back of her neck. He glanced at her and said, “I’m going to rub it in now.”
With that, he carefully traced her shoulder with his fingertips. If you feel uncomfortable, just tell me. I know you’re still a bit uneasy with physical closeness. Dr. Washington mentioned it.”
He kept observing her closely, his fingers resting lightly without moving, waiting for her reaction.
Ava replied quietly, “Go ahead.”
Only then did his suspended hand settle fully onto her skin. The smoothness under his palm made his chest tighten slightly.
Suppressing the restless thoughts surfacing in him, he asked in a steady tone, “Is this pressure okay?”
His touch was controlled and precise, almost like a trained therapist. Ava narrowed her eyes slightly. “It’s fine.”
Keith’s eyes drifted across her back and shoulders, eventually landing on the thin strap stretching across her skin. He stopped himself from touching it.
He sprayed sunscreen carefully over her lower back as well, then hovered his palm above her waist as if measuring it. It looked so small he could have enclosed it with one hand.
The thought hit him hard, and he quickly turned his head away, exhaling twice to steady himself before leaning back a little
By the time he finished applying the sunscreen white barely breathing properly, he felt completely drained, as though he had endured something torturous.

Clearing his throat awkwardly, he set the spray aside and said in a low voice, “Done. You can handle the rest.”
Without waiting for her reply, he turned and walked off quickly.
Ava sat up and watched him leave without saying anything. She picked up the spray and finished applying it herself.

Only after she had carefully covered every exposed area did she notice he was nowhere in sight. She stood and walked around the yacht, but still couldn’t find him. Frowning, she called out, “Keith,” but there was no answer.
Unable to locate him, she returned to her seat, activated her Holoband, checked her messages, replied to a few, then browsed the Stellar Network for a while.
Later, she looked up and saw Keith standing nearby, watching her with a calm, gentle expression.
“Where did you go? You didn’t respond when I called out to you earlier.”
She gave him a quick once-over and noticed he had changed into a fresh outfit.
“I had something to take care of. Didn’t get the chance to tell you.”
Ava couldn’t help a small laugh. “It’s your birthday, and you’re still working? That’s kind of rough.”
Keith only smiled faintly without responding.
The yacht had already anchored in a quiet bay, and he had arranged the fishing rods neatly along the deck.
