Ava noticed a brief shadow of sadness pass through his expression. She moved closeh stopping right beside him, and gently wrapped her fingers around his hand. “You’ve kept everything all this time, if he’s still alive in your memories, then he’s not really gone. Death isn’t the end-being forgotten is what truly erases someone.”
Keith’s hand closed more firmly over hers.
Later, Keith took her out on a speedboat, letting it cut across the open sea in a few wide loops before they finally returned to the yacht.
Ava hurried toward the fishing rods, her eyes full of anticipation as she looked at him. “Pult them up-did we catch anything?”
Seeing how much more excited she was than he was, Keith let out a low laugh ary went to reel the tines in himself.
The first three rods came up completely bare, and Ava couldn’t help letting out a disappointed breath.
On the fourth try, a fish suddenly broke the surface, its body flashing under the sunlight as its shimmering scales caught the light while it thrashed. Ava’s eyes immediately brightened. “It’s gorgeous.”
A couple more rods followed, bringing up two additional fish neither of them could identify.
The catch wasn’t large, but it was enough for just the two of them. Keith cleaned the fish and then said, “My princess, can you help me cleanse them?”
Ava finished purifying the ingredients. Keith carried the prepared bowl toward the kitchen and told her, “Go take a break. I’ll call you when it’s ready.”
Honestly intrigued by how someone so refined would handle cooking, Ava chose to stay instead of leaving, quietly watching him
work.
Keith glanced back at her. “What? Are you worried it won’t be edible?”
She shook her head quickly. “No, it’s just surprising. I didn’t expect you to know how to do something this… ordinary.”
He smiled faintly. “I only know a few simple dishes. When I was younger, I used to dream about becoming an interstellar wanderer,
remember?”
Ava laughed at that. “If you really became one, how would anyone else survive without you around?”
In the small kitchen, one of them prepared lunch while the other leaned casually by the doorway, watching and occasionally chatting.
Before long, everything was ready-baked sea fish, two light salads, sliced fruit, and mashed potatoes.
They sat down together. Ava picked up her cutlery, took a bite, and her expression lit up instantly. “This is amazing How are you good at everything? You can handle the public world so well, and you can cook too-and you’re mine.”
Her praise made Keith laugh softly.
After lunch, they talked for a while longer before drifting into a relaxing nap. When Ava opened her eyes again, it was already around three in the afternoon.

Seeing she was awake, Keith said immediately, “Let’s go diving. But tell me again-you’re really confident with diving, right?”
She nodded.
“Alright, then get changed. We’re going in,”
Beneath the water, schools of fish moved freely through the clear blue sea. Sea turtles glided past at an unhurried pace, and bright little fish darted in and out of colorful coral formations.
Keith stayed close beside her the entire time. At moments, he held her hand; at others, he paused to take photos of her using underwater equipment.
By the time they surfaced and returned to shore, it was already past five in the evening, and they made their way back home.
Once inside, Ava showered first, changed into dry clothes, washed her swimsuit, and hung it up to dry before stepping out of the
room.
Keith was already preparing ingredients for dinner. She walked over and said, “Let’s cook together.”
He shook his head lightly. “No need. Just relax in the living room. I’ll call you when it’s done.”
He gently ushered her out of the kitchen. Instead of insisting, she went to inspect what he was using, then came back and asked, “Do you have any flour?”
Keith opened a cupboard, pulled out a sealed bag, and handed it to her.
She glanced at the package-about one pound.
“Let’s make ravioli tonight.”
Keith gave a slightly helpless smile. “I don’t know how to make that.”
“I do,” she said with certainty. “It’s your birthday, and for me, a proper birthday meal isn’t complete without ravioli.”
She emphasized the last words with extra weight.
“I had the meal you made for lunch, so it’s only fair I return the favor. I’ll cook for you tonight-just don’t complain about it.”
Keith became interested and stood watching as she mixed water and egg into the flour and began kneading the dough with practiced ease. Ava raised an eyebrow. “Why are you staring like that?”
“So I can learn,” he said with a smile.
A faint bitterness settled in his chest as he thought about the life she must have lived, the kind that forced a young woman to learn these things far earlier than she ever should have.
If he wanted to watch, she didn’t mind. Once the dough was smooth, she set it aside to rest and looked at him. “You won’t be eating this anytime soon.”
Keith simply smiled and returned to his own cooking.
When the dough had rested, she kneaded it again, wrapped it carefully in cling film, rolled it out thin, cut it into even squares, flied each piece with seafood mixture, and sealed the edges with a bit of water.
