"Don’t be so full of yourself," Dorrent sneered, a mocking smirk touching his lips as he gestured to the empty space around the man. "You are alone in a deserted graveyard. You think you can outrun me?"
"Who said he was alone?" a rough voice barked from the side.
Suddenly, the rustling of leaves broke the silence. From the bushes and stone crypts surrounding the burial plot, five, ten, then fifteen armed men began to step out one by one, their tactical rifles raised and locked onto Dorrent and Shadron. They formed a tight, lethal perimeter around the car, completely cutting off any path of escape.
The masked leader grinned beneath his fabric, his knife still pressed against Jannah’s throat as she struggled weakly against his iron grip. "All you have to do is back off, tycoon. Let me take the girl into the vehicle and we walk away. If you try to act like a hero, I will cause a massive scene, and you will die on this spot."
Shadron’s face went completely grim as he cataloged the number of rifles pointed at them. "Dorrent... look at the numbers. They’ve got us surrounded and we don’t have our primary guards here. We should back off first, get the layout settled, and track them later. We can’t fight this many armed men in the open."
Jannah stared at Dorrent through tear-blurred eyes, her breath catching as the cold steel of the knife dug slightly into her skin.
Dorrent didn’t even look at Shadron. His gaze remained locked dead onto the masked man holding Jannah, his expression hardening into a terrifying mask. The veins against his neck bulged as his winter-frost pheromones exploded into the open air, heavy and suffocating.
"Then you’ll have to kill me first," Dorrent delivered, his voice a flat whisper that echoed through the graveyard. "Because you are never leaving this place alive with my woman."
Dorrent didn’t wait for the armed men to squeeze their triggers. His core ripped wide open, and his dangerous, S-tier winter-frost pheromones exploded into the open air with the force of a detonating bomb. The scent became a physical weight, a suffocating, icy mist that rushed outward, filling the lungs of every single person standing in the perimeter.
The armed men instantly began to gasp for air, their chests heaving as the invisible pressure squeezed their lungs. Two men dropped their rifles, clawing frantically at their own throats as they fell to their knees on the damp gravel, coughing violently. The air felt like breathing crushed ice and poison.
Caught directly in the center of the blast, Jannah’s fragile system couldn’t withstand the crushing force of the Alpha pressure. Her vision went black, her head slumping limply sideways as she fainted dead in the leader’s arms, her body going entirely soft and weightless.
The masked man, already choking and struggling to draw a single breath beneath his fabric, panicked as he felt the girl go limp. His eyes widened in terror behind the holes of his mask as he looked at Dorrent, who was starting to walk forward.
"Shoot him! Shoot him, you fools!" the leader shrieked, his voice cracking into a desperate, strangled wheeze. "Kill him right now!"
The men who could still stand raised their weapons with trembling hands and pulled the triggers.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A barrage of gunfire shattered the eerie silence of the burial grounds. High-caliber bullets tore through the air, ripping through the fabric of Dorrent’s long black coat and embedding themselves into his flesh. Blood sprayed out, staining the gravel path, but Dorrent paid the bullets absolutely no attention. His silver eyes were glazed over with a blind, animalistic madness, his life force forcing his legs to move forward despite the agonizing wounds opening up across his chest and shoulders. He walked right through the storm of lead like a demon rising from hell.
Before the masked leader could even pull the trigger of his own handgun, Dorrent closed the distance.
