Vengeance in His Bed novel Chapter 167

Chapter 167: Sliding Against the Beast

The tires of the sedan hummed against the asphalt, eating up the miles on the private highway leading toward the Upper District. Inside the reinforced cabin, the silence was charged with a dangerous friction.

Shadron was up front, his eyes fixed firmly on the road ahead, his hands gripping the steering wheel with a tight, deliberate discipline. He kept his gaze strictly locked on the rearview mirror, purposefully tuning his focus out of the circus unfolding in the passenger lounge behind him. Dorrent had flatly refused the doctors’ orders to remain in the sterile confines of the Upper District Hospital. Against the loud, furious protests of his mother, the S-tier tycoon had demanded to be discharged immediately, opting to let his torn tissues and bullet wounds heal within the walls of the Grefo estate under the exclusive care of his private medical team.

Jannah sat pressed against the far end of the plush leather seat, her side practically glued to the cold glass of the door panel. She wanted to create as much physical distance between herself and the beast as possible.

But Dorrent had zero intention of granting her that luxury.

Despite the layers of bandages restricting his torso beneath his black shirt, the tycoon had shifted hisframe across the wide seat, closing the gap until he was hovering right in her space. He was so close that his broad shoulder was brushing against her arm, his suffocating, icy winter-frost pheromones completely filling the small, enclosed perimeter of the backseat until her lungs felt thick with his scent.

"Stay on your own side, Dorrent," Jannah snapped, her voice sharp with irritation as she pressed her spine even harder against the car door. She didn’t look at him, keeping her dark eyes fixed on the passing shadows of the highway. "It is blistering hot inside this vehicle, and you are squeezing me against the frame. It’s completely uncomfortable."

Dorrent let out a chuckle, his eyes flashing with a predatory amusement as he tracked the furious tilt of her jaw. "Is it too hot for you, Jannah?" he murmured smoothly, leaning his upper body even closer until his hot breath brushed the sensitive skin of her neck. "If the temperature gets too hot to handle... we can easily take care of one another right here in the back. Wouldn’t that be great, little enemy?"

Before she could even process his mocking words, Dorrent’s hand shot forward, his palm coming down flat onto the exposed skin of her thigh, his fingers digging in with a squeeze.

Slap!

Jannah slapped his hand away, the sharp crack of her palm hitting his skin echoing through the quiet interior of the sedan. Her dark eyes blazed with sudden venom as she glared at him. "Do that again and I will hit you directly in your fresh bullet wounds!" she hissed, her teeth grinding together so hard her jaw ached. "Keep your pathetic hands completely away from my body!"

Dorrent didn’t even flinch at the rejection. Instead, a wickedly handsome smirk cut across his face, his silver eyes dropping to her trembling lips as he leaned in until his face was just inches from hers.

"They wouldn’t feel so pathetic to you when they make you scream in pleasure, Jannah," Dorrent delivered in a low, husky whisper that sent an unwanted shiver straight down her spine. He leaned in closer, his voice dropping into a dirty frequency that left zero room for modesty. "Especially when my fingers are buried deep inside you, stretching you out until you can’t think of any other man’s name but mine."

Jannah’s face instantly flushed a bright, burning crimson, a mixture of intense humiliation and fury exploding in her chest. She cast an embarrassed glance toward the front seat, her heart hammering against her ribs.

"Why do you always talk dirt?!" Jannah rasped out in a furious, hushed whisper, her fingers clutching the seats tightly. "Aren’t you even ashamed that your best friend is sitting right up front driving the car?! Have you completely lost your dignity?!"

Up front, Shadron let out a loud cough, his eyes rolling dramatically as he adjusted his grip on the steering wheel, though he kept his mouth tightly shut.

Dorrent didn’t care in the slightest. He let out another amused chuckle, his silver eyes tracking the visual landscape of her frame. "I just can’t help myself, little wife," he murmured carelessly, his gaze dropping to the incredibly short, tight emerald dress she was wearing. "Especially not when you are dressed in such a dangerously short dress, looking so sexy and vulnerable right next to me."
