Chapter 198: The Alpha’s Version of Love

Realizing he was referring to the raw, intense satisfaction of their physical encounters and his so called protection, Jannah’s face turned bright crimson. She raised her fists and beat them hard against his chest. "You are awful!" she yelled, her voice trembling. "You are a terrible, disgusting man! I pray with everything I have that my curse catches you and you end up in a hospital soon!"

"Does it not feel good, though?" Dorrent asked softly, ignoring her small fists beating against him. He leaned down, his eyes locking into hers with a quiet, steady weight. "Does it not feel good to know that there is finally someone in this world who doesn’t give a damn about your crazy curse? A man who looks at your ’blight’ and still desperately wants to be with you? I can even be your friend, Jannah."

Jannah let out a loud, incredulous laugh, wiping her nose with her sleeve as she looked at him with disbelief. "What kind of a friend could a perverted billionaire like you ever make? More like a fuck buddy!"

Dorrent chuckled, the rumble vibrating pleasant against her palms. Slowly, he pulled her back just a fraction of an inch, keeping his hands firmly anchored on her waist as he looked down at her face.

"Look at me as a friend, Jannah," Dorrent said, his voice dropping into a serious, gentle frequency. "Tell me all the things you have ever wished for in this life. You can as well tell me your secrets."

Jannah turned her face away defensively. "I am not interested in making you my friend, Dorrent."

"Just let go of that stubbornness for one minute," Dorrent urged, his thumb stroking her hip through her clothes. "We will soon become husband and wife anyway. In the end, we only have each other in this crazy city. Tell me... what are some of the dreams and fantasies you ever imagined? What kind of man did you actually want to date when you were growing up?"

Jannah looked back at him, her eyes scanning the sharp, flawless, and intimidating lines of his symmetrical face. A bitter, sarcastic smile touched her lips. "The absolute complete opposite of everything that you are," she spat out flatly.

Dorrent raised an eyebrow, a dark glint of skepticism in his eyes. "The opposite? Come on, little physician... you couldn’t have possibly wished for an ugly man. And certainly not a poor one."

"Looks and riches don’t matter to me that much!" Jannah fired right back, her voice rising with a sudden sincerity that caught him off guard. She looked past his shoulder, her eyes clouding over as she recalled the innocent, romantic fantasies she used to dream about while gathering herbs in the rain. "I wanted a man who is gentle. Someone soft, kind, and patient. A man who speaks to me with respect, who listens to my thoughts without trying to dominate me. I wanted a man who would hold my hand in public without hiding me, someone who would bring me simple field flowers instead of expensive gold, and who would protect me without making me feel like a caged bird."

She took a soft, trembling breath, her voice dropping into the delicate, romantic expectation that a nineteen-year-old girl craved. "I wanted someone to take me out on cute, simple dates... to walk through the night markets, eat cheap ice cream under the streetlights, and talk about nothing until the sun comes up. I wanted a sweet, innocent love."

Dorrent stood perfectly still, listening silently as her soft, youthful voice filled the quiet room.
