Chapter 407.

While Riley disliked Tanya, she disliked Chase just as much.
After she finished subtly ripping into Tanya, Riley turned to Chase, a small smile playing on her lips. “I always heard you and Ms. Mond were so in love. Like, you took her everywhere. Now that I see it in person, I guess the rumors weren’t an exaggeration at all.”
Riley’s sarcasm was thick, but her smile was even wider. Anyone not clued in would’ve sworn she was genuinely gushing over Chase and Tanya’s ‘perfect’ relationship.
Just then, someone else sidled up to chat, catching their drift. They chuckled, cutting in,”Oh yeah, Mr. Sterling really is all about Ms. Mond.”
Riley shot Chase a cold, flat look. She didn’t take the bait, but she also didn’t say anything more. Today was Eternal’s big launch, after all. It wouldn’t be worth it to let those two hijack the party and turn it into a mess.
Tim and Ashley were on the exact same page.
Tim gave a smile that didn’t touch his eyes. “Mr. Sterling,” he said, “my mentor and I actually have something we need to take care of. So if you’ll excuse
us.”
Tanya knew exactly what Riley meant by that long time no see’ crack.
Her expression soured.
Riley had just roasted Tanya, and Chase hadn’t been spared either. But Chase didn’t show a flicker of anger. After Tim said they had to leave, Chase just kept his polite smile. No worries,’ he said, ‘you two go ahead.’
He gave a polite nod and walked off with Tanya.
Once they were out of earshot, Riley leaned closer to Ashley, her voice dropping. ‘How much longer until your waiting period is over?’
‘Less than half a month,’ Ashley replied.
Riley pursed her lips.’No screw-ups this time, got it?’
‘Shouldn’t be a problem,’ Ashley confirmed.
From what her mentor said, she wouldn’t need to go back to the base for at least another month, barring any emergencies.
‘Good.’
Hearing that, Riley visibly relaxed. She playfully pinched Ashley’s cheek.’Once you’re officially divorced, I’m celebrating with you.”
Ashley grinned.’Deal.’
The party buzzed on.
From then on, Ashley and Tim were pretty much tied up with guests. They kept moving, bustling through the banquet hall.
Chase and Tanya didn’t bother them again.
Chase was actually pretty busy himself. People kept approaching him, wanting to chat.
His mood tonight didn’t seem bothered at all by the cold shoulder from William and Riley.
He chatted happily, occasionally glancing around.
Tanya stayed right by his side.
Jeffery wasn’t constantly trying to talk to Tanya, but he always lingered nearby.
He chatted with someone for a bit, then glanced at Tanya. As he turned back to continue his conversation, he noticed Ashley and Tim had somehow
moved closer to his area.
He took a quick glance. Just as he was about to look away, he caught Chase’s gaze.
He didn’t pay it much mind at first. But then he seemed to notice something. He paused, then turned his head back to look at Chase.
He looked closer and that’s when he saw it. Chase was definitely looking at Ashley.
His expression darkened.
By then, Chase had already looked away.
Jeffery figured he was just overthinking. Chase was seriously good to Tanya, after all.
But he still kept an eye out, glancing at Chase every now and then.
It didn’t take long. He realized he… wasn’t overthinking it at all.
Because while Chase chatted, his eyes landed on Ashley again.
