Mr. Eleanor frowned. “We don’t yet know the cause of these
emotions in the child. If treatment is necessary, I’ll put together
a plan as soon as possible, and we can discuss it then.”
“Okay.”
Roderick seemed much more composed. He nodded and said,
“We’ll be counting on you then, Mr. Eleanor.”
“Of course.”
Although Mr. Eleanor didn’t say it outright, he repeatedly
mentioned that the boy needed to interact more with his
mother.
Madeleine took his words to heart and took the little guy out to
play right after they left the hospital.
Roderick had some work to take care of, so he had to go back
first.
Before he left, he arranged for a bodyguard to follow them.
Chapter 119
The bodyguard was six–foot–three and all muscle, following the
mother and son at a discreet distance, which gave them a great
sense of security.
Remembering the forecast had called for a drop in temperature
in a few days, Madeleine held the little guy’s hand and decided
to buy him some new clothes for the season.
“Kev, do you like the clothes Mommy’s been picking out for
you?”
She loved dressing him up in cute outfits, which seemed
different from how Kevin used to dress.
“I like them.”
Kevin nodded seriously. “I like everything Mommy buys.”
Madeleine crouched down to look at him. “That’s not right, Kev.
Even if Mommy buys it, you have the right to say you don’t like
The little guy looked a bit confused, then nodded after thinking
for a couple of seconds.
“Good boy.”
Chapter 119
Madeleine ruffled his hair and took him to pick out some
clothes.
You have to try clothes on to see if they fit. Madeleine was
about to help Kevin change, but he hugged the clothes, said he
could do it himself, and went into the fitting room alone.
Madeleine waited outside with her arms crossed.
“This kid is so independent. I wonder who he gets that from.”
After a while, Kevin still hadn’t come out.
Madeleine started to get anxious and called out, “Kev, are you dressed yet?”
“Mommy… I… I’m stuck…”
Worried, Madeleine quickly pushed the door open and went
inside. When she saw the sight before her, she couldn’t help but
burst out laughing.
She picked out a blue sweatshirt for Kevin, but the size was a
bit too small. When he was halfway through putting it on, it got
stuck on his head and wouldn’t go any further.
When Kevin realized, he tried to take it off, but as soon as he

pulled, he knew something was wrong.
He couldn’t get it on, and he couldn’t get it off!
He’d been silently struggling with the sweatshirt for a while, like
a tug–of–war, and his face was all red.
Madeleine clutched her stomach, laughing for a long time, until
she saw her son’s face getting redder and redder. Only then did
she force herself to stop and walk over.
“It’s okay, Kev. Come on, Mommy will help you take it off.”
“Okay, Mommy…”
Even though he answered, you could clearly hear that his tone
was much more subdued.
Madeleine tried her best to suppress a smile and, with great
effort, finally pulled the sweatshirt off his head.
“There, there. Oh, it’s Mommy’s fault for getting you a small
one. I’ll go get you another one, okay?”
As Madeleine said this and was about to leave, she caught a
glimpse of the little guy’s furtive movements.
Madeleine stopped in her tracks.
Chapter 119
She turned back and crouched in front of Kevin. Now, the panic
in the little guy’s eyes was impossible to hide.
“What are you hiding?”
“Nothing, Mommy.”
Kevin shook his head and took a small step back.
In the past, Madeleine might have let him have his little secrets
out of respect for him.
But things were different now.
