As soon as Madeleine left, Kevin went back to his room and
started practicing the piano diligently.
He was going to practice hard to give his mom a surprise.
Inside the Livingston Group building.
Gerry knocked on the CEO’s office door and came in to report:
“Sir, Mr. Klein has been waiting in the lounge all day. Are you
still not going to see him?”
Jason’s father had come over in the morning.
He was extremely nervous when he came in, saying he needed
to see Roderick.
Gerry knew Roderick’s temper, but seeing that Mr. Klein was an
older man, he braced himself and came in to ask anyway.
Roderick didn’t look up, his long fingers tapping on the
keyboard, his voice cold: “Tell him to leave.”

Gerry hesitated for a moment, “Mr. Klein said that no matter
what, he’s willing to apologize.”
Roderick’s fingers paused, and he looked up, his gaze chillingly
cold. “Sorry? What good is that?”
“It looks like Mr. Klein has no idea why we’re targeting The Klein
group.”
Roderick narrowed his eyes and sneered.
“He’s had a whole day and still hasn’t figured it out? Then go
give him a reminder.”
“Got it.”
Gerry walked out of the office and went straight to the lounge.
The moment Mr. Klein saw him enter, he shot to his feet, a
fawning smile plastered on his face. “Gerry, is Mr. Livingston
willing to see me now?”
Gerry smiled slightly, his tone polite yet distant. “Mr. Klein, the
president is very busy right now, but… he asked me to have a
word with you.”
Mr. Klein’s expression stiffened, but he quickly forced a smile.

“Of course, of course. Please, Gerry, go ahead.”
Gerry slowly poured a cup of tea, pushed it toward Mr. Klein,
and casually brought up, “Mr. Klein, I hear your son is in charge
of the Everglory Tower project?”
Mr. Klein paused, then nodded. “Yes, I had Jason take over
when he came back. It’s only been a few days. You know, young
people need to gain some experience.”
Gerry let out a soft “Oh,” tapping his fingertips on the rim of the
cup twice, meaningfully.
“In that case, Mr. Klein, you’d better ask your son… if he’s done
anything he shouldn’t have at the Everglory Tower recently?”
After saying that, Gerry stood up, nodded, and left.
Mr. Klein’s mouth fell slightly open, and he was stunned for a
long moment.
He turned his head to look at the subordinate beside him.
“What did he mean by that?”
“From the sound of it, it seems Jason got into some trouble…”
Mr. Klein clenched his fists and shot his subordinate a fierce

glare.
“What are you standing there for? Call that little brat!”
“Yes, of course.”
When Jason received the call, he had his arm around his new
flame, about to go out for a meal.
“Jason, the Chairman wants you to come to the Livingston
Group immediately.”
Over the phone, the subordinate’s voice was tinged with
nervousness.
Jason scoffed, his tone flippant, “What’s the old man freaking
out about now?
I don’t have time right now.”
“Jason, this is really important. The Chairman said…”
“Alright, alright.”
Jason cut him off impatiently, “I get it. I’ll head over in a bit.”
After hanging up, he gave a contemptuous smirk.

The Livingston Group?
Isn’t that Madeleine’s husband in name only?
Whatever. I’m bored anyway, might as well go check it out.
Twenty minutes later, Madeleine arrived at the base of the
corporate building, carrying a bento box.
Just as she walked into the lobby of the Livingston Group, she
ran right into Jason.
He was leaning casually against the reception desk, fiddling
