This kid… where did he learn to be such a smooth talker at his
age?
He didn’t remember being like that when he was little.
Roderick had booked the restaurant, a top–tier luxury place
perfect for a family dinner.
Of course, Harold and Clarissa had to be invited; they were
Minerva’s aunt and uncle.
Somehow, Owen found out. He called and said he wanted to
come over too.
When Madeleine found out, she made a point to talk to the
head chef and switch out a few dishes for ones suitable for a
pregnant woman.
The whole family was gathered together around a large table.
“Come on, let’s all raise our glasses and toast to our little Mina
for winning the championship!”
Chapter 235
Harold stood up. After he spoke, his eyes reddened without him
realizing it, and he instinctively turned to look at Madeleine, who
was sitting nearby.
Madeleine was puzzled by his stare.
“What’s wrong, Dad?
Why are you looking at me like that?”
“I was just thinking how fast time flies. I still remember when
you were little and won awards, I threw banquets to celebrate
for you, too.”
As he spoke, Harold raised a hand and wiped the corners of his
moist eyes with the back of it.
Hearing this made Madeleine’s heart ache a little, too.
Yeah, time really flies.
Harold was a sensitive and sentimental man, but Owen was the
complete opposite.
He clicked his tongue and raised his glass to clink with
Harold’s.
“Harold, look at you. Why are you saying such sad things on a

happy day like this?”
“So what if time flies? Isn’t it great that we’re surrounded by our
children and grandchildren?”
He finished speaking, shook his head, and muttered under his
breath.
“You’re just being dramatic.”
Harold laughed when he heard that.
“Yeah, let’s not talk about that stuff.”
He smiled, shook his head, and downed the wine in his glass.
“Let’s just be happy.”
The atmosphere became lively again. The dishes, exquisite and
delicious, were served one after another, and everyone was
laughing constantly.
Owen and Madeleine’s parents would occasionally tell funny
stories about the young couple’s childhood, making Minerva
giggle while clutching her stomach.
Madeleine put her hand on her forehead, wishing she could
cover her son Kevin’s ears right now.
Chapter 235
How embarrassing. How was she, as his mom, supposed to
keep any respect in front of her son after this?
While they were eating, Madeleine’s phone rang.
She picked it up and looked at it, a little surprised.
“Kev, your kindergarten is having an art festival?”
“Yeah.”
Kevin nodded, looked up, and said, “Mommy, I’m going to play
the piano for the art festival.”
Madeleine’s mouth fell open in surprise when she heard that.
It wasn’t just her; everyone else at the table looked over in
surprise.
“Kev, did you volunteer to perform?”
“Maddie, when is it? Can Grandma come and watch?”
“Grandpa just bought a new camera. I’ll take pictures of you
then, okay?”
Everyone was talking at once, and Kevin didn’t know who to
answer.
Chapter 235
So he didn’t answer anyone and just turned to look at
Madeleine.
“Mommy, can you come to the kindergarten for the art festival?”
The two of them, one big and one small, locked eyes.
Madeleine’s eyes, twinkling like stars, were quivering.
Kevin… he actually asked for something on his own.
And it was an earnest request, full of hope.
This is wonderful…
Madeleine felt a sting in her nose.
Thinking about how the little guy used to be so sensitive,
suppressing his needs and too scared to say what he really felt,
made Madeleine’s heart ache.
She took a deep breath, fighting back her emotions and
nodded.
“Of course, Kev. How could Mommy miss your event?”
Kevin’s eyes grew even brighter.
Chapter 235
Madeleine stroked her son’s little cheek and smiled happily.
The little guy turned his head to look at Roderick, who didn’t
wait to be asked.
“Yeah, I’ll go with Mom.”
“That’s great.”
When Kevin got happy, his little face flushed, looking incredibly
