Chapter 306
Seriously? A kid not even five years old can just coast through
life?
Is there any justice in this world?
Madeleine thought back to when she was four or five.
It’s true what they say: comparison is the thief of joy.
Two small pieces of furniture were getting their finishing
touches, so Roderick and Madeleine went to discuss the
measurements with the craftsman.
Bradley, bored out of his mind, sat on a stone bench in the
courtyard and pulled out his phone.
He opened Charlotte’s Facebook for the umpteenth time.
The two of them had been in a standoff since they last saw each other, with neither one reaching out.
Bradley couldn’t take it anymore, but Madeleine had just told
Chapter 306
him he was doing the right thing, that he needed to give
Charlotte a push at a time like this.
Push?
How was he supposed to do that?
He couldn’t bear to be too harsh, but if he didn’t do enough, he
wouldn’t be able to make Charlotte face her own feelings.
Bradley found it incredibly difficult, harder than the papers he
had to write every day for his PhD.
He opened his moments to a flood of posts from the hospital’s
public feed, all shared by his colleagues.
Oh, that’s right.
The medical association was partnering with the hospital to
promote medical aid programs for various departments, and it
was currently the recruitment period.
He clicked on it for a look and casually shared it.
His department head saw the share and was startled, quickly
sending him a private message.
Bradley, you’re not actually thinking of going, are you?
Chapter 306
You’re the top surgeon in our department, you can’t leave.
Bradley’s lips curled into a smirk, deciding to mess with his
boss.
Well, you never know. You know me, I’m a man of great
compassion.
On the other end, the department head was sweating bullets
and immediately called the hospital director; if that kid Bradley
dared to apply, they couldn’t let him go under any
circumstances.
The aid program was a three–year commitment, and their
department was so desperate for talent that they could lose
anyone but Bradley.
Meanwhile, someone else saw the post, and their palms began
to sweat.
Two days later, it was Rebecca’s father’s birthday.
The birthday party was held at a courtyard estate that older
people liked, called The Willow Creek Manor.
William Whitman didn’t invite too many guests this time. Most
were old friends, along with some close business partners.
Chapter 306
Madeleine loved the atmosphere at The Willow Creek Manor, so
she brought Kevin over early to play.
There were some small animals in the backyard, a perfect place
to take a child to relax.
Just then, she saw Rebecca talking to someone not far away,
and Madeleine quickly turned her head.
“Kev, how about you let Gerry play with you for a bit?”
Gerry was here today too. Roderick was worried Madeleine
might get lost with the little one, so he had specifically asked
him to tag along.
“Okay.”
Kevin nodded obediently, let go of Madeleine’s hand, and
turned to take Gerry’s.
“Thanks for the help, Gerry.”
“Of course.”
When Madeleine walked over, Rebecca had just finished talking
with the person and couldn’t help but frown when she saw
Madeleine.
Chapter 306
“How did you get so thin?”
“Huh? Am I?”
Madeleine looked down at herself and said with a smile, “My
weight hasn’t really changed. It’s probably because I’ve been
dancing a lot more, so I probably just look a lot smaller.”
Rebecca still frowned as she listened.
“You need to be careful. Your health is your most important
asset. If you get sick from exhaustion, besides the suffering,
you’ll also…”
