Abraham rushed on, “We tried to take him to the hospital, but he
won’t go. He’s just really agitated. He seemed. to get a little
better a moment ago, but he’s delirious and he keeps… keeps
calling your name.”
“Fiona, he always listens to you. Can you please come and see
him?
Talk to him?
I’m so worried about him…”
Muffled sounds could be heard in the background, seeming to
be Edward’s pained groans.
Fiona clutched her phone, silent.
Alarm bells were screaming in her head:
Don’t go. You just barely broke free, you’re finally seeing things
for what they are. You can’t get sucked back in!
His condition now might be related to Roderick, and that’s a
whole other mess!
Chapter 331
But… deep down, whether it was the remnants of her past
feelings or just a deep–seated habit of worrying about him, she
couldn’t bring herself to just ignore it.
He’s sick… He’s calling her name…
Memories of when they were inseparable, of how she had given
him her whole heart, flashed through her mind against her will.
She struggled with the decision for a moment, then Fiona
closed her eyes. When she opened them, they held a flash of
resigned resolve.
“Send me the address.”
Her voice sounded hoarse. “I’ll be right over.”
Similar to Edward, Roderick also started having physical
problems after he got back to his office.
He was in a meeting when a sweet, metallic taste filled his
throat.
The next moment, blood sprayed from his mouth.
The conference room immediately broke into chaos as Gerry

rushed to support him.
“Quick!
To the hospital!”
At that moment, Madeleine was at home with Kevin.
She was waiting for Kirsten to finish making the soup, so she
could take it to Mrs. Miller at the hospital.
Her phone rang sharply. It was a call from Gerry.
A bad feeling instantly gripped her heart.
“Chase, can you come to the hospital?”
Gerry’s voice was rushed and tense, completely unlike his usual
self.
Madeleine subconsciously glanced at Kevin, then immediately
stood up and walked a few steps away.
“Gerry, what happened?”
“Mr. Livingston… Mr. Livingston just coughed up blood. He’s
barely conscious and on the way to the hospital now.”
Chapter 331
“What!”
Madeleine’s eyes widened, her face instantly turned pale, and her mind went blank. She felt the blood drain from her body.
Coughing up blood… How could he be coughing up blood?
Roderick had always been healthy. Just a while ago, Madeleine had made him get a check–up because she was worried.
“Mom?”
Kevin looked up, confused, at his mother who had frozen in
place, and sensitively picked up on the unease.
Madeleine snapped back to reality. Looking at her son’s pure,
worried eyes, she forced down the panic and sobs that were
about to burst from her throat.
She couldn’t panic. She absolutely could not panic!
Kevin was still young, and Roderick was waiting for her at the
hospital!
She took a deep breath, trying to make her voice sound steady,
and even managed a very forced smile.
“Kev, Mommy has to go out for a little while. Can you play here

by yourself, okay?”
The little guy nodded understandingly.
“Okay, Mommy. Go do what you need to do.”
Madeleine kissed her son’s forehead and quickly stood up, but
her fingertips couldn’t stop trembling slightly.
She practically had to force her weak legs to move as she
quickly gave Kirsten a few instructions before rushing out the
door.
Madeleine sped all the way there, her mind a mess, filled with
images of Roderick’s pale, blood–stained face and Gerry’s
words, “He’s barely conscious.”
She didn’t even remember how she got to the hospital, just
running on pure instinct as she jumped out of the car and
sprinted toward the emergency center entrance.
Panicked and unsteady on her feet, just as she was about to
rush through the revolving door, another hurried figure
approached quickly from the side.
