Chapter 56
The thing with Mary Sampson was just a minor hiccup;
Madeleine Mosley didn’t give it a second thought.
The weather was nice today, and so was Madeleine’s mood.
She wasn’t about to let Mary ruin their weekend plans.
Sitting in the car, Madeleine hummed a cheerful little tune.
As Roderick Livingston listened to the decade–old song, the
moment Madeleine called him “honey” kept replaying in his
mind.
Her voice was so sweet and pleasant.
The way she held his arm felt so natural.
He didn’t understand why Madeleine had done that, but he had
to admit it.
He was very happy right now.
“Huh?”
Kevin Livingston peeked over and stared at the smile on

Roderick’s face, looking puzzled.
“Dad, you’re smiling! What happy thing are you thinking about?”
“Hmm?”
Roderick snapped out of it, only then realizing he had been
smiling.
Madeleine stopped humming and gave him an annoyed look. “You’re not making fun of me, are you?”
Madeleine wasn’t a good singer; she was actually a bit tone-
deaf.
Back in school, her classmates always loved going to karaoke.
Ever since Roderick made fun of her, Madeleine always found
an excuse not to go.
If she remembered correctly, the last time she went singing
was when she was 14.
Thinking of this, Madeleine shot Roderick another glare and
muttered, “What’s so funny? I could make fun of you for being
clumsy and not knowing how to dance.”
“I wasn’t.”

Roderick said, a bit helplessly, “I wasn’t making fun of you.”
“Then what were you smiling about?”
“Hmm…‘ Roderick thought for a moment. ‘I thought of a joke.”
“What joke, Dad? I wanna hear it, I wanna hear it!”
Roderick paused for a moment, then said with a straight face,
“Peppa Pig had a dream that she became a sailor. Her mom
told her that dreams are the opposite of reality.”
Madeleine and Kevin looked completely baffled.
Madeleine asked, “And then?”
Roderick said, “Then Peppa Pig turned into a ham.”
Madeleine: …
What a terrible dad joke.
After hearing it, Kevin looked like his world was ending.
“Dad, Peppa Pig… turned into a ham?”
“Waaah, I don’t want to eat ham anymore.”
Madeleine: …

“Pfft.”
She hadn’t found the joke that funny, but her son’s reaction
cracked her up, and she started giggling while clutching her
stomach.
Mathew Bryant, who was driving, couldn’t help but chuckle too.
“The young master is so adorable.”
Madeleine ruffled the little guy’s hair. “He gets it from me. Our
cuteness is a family trait.”
Hearing this, Kevin proudly puffed out his chest.
After more than an hour in the car, the family finally arrived at
the happiest place on earth.
Of course, only Madeleine and Kevin thought so.
Roderick walked in and frowned slightly when he saw how
crowded it was.
He wished he’d had Gerry Hammond ask in advance if they could have just booked the whole park.

Chapter 56
“Mommy, do you think that Mickey Mouse headband is cute?”
They had just walked in, and Kevin was already frozen in place,
staring at a stand selling headbands.
It’s just that the boy still hadn’t developed the habit of voicing
his thoughts or asking for things.
When he asked Madeleine if it was cute, it was his way of
saying he wanted one.
Madeleine was about to answer, but then she thought of
something and crouched down to look into the little guy’s eyes.
“Does Kev like this?”
Kevin paused for a moment, as if remembering what his mom
had told him before.
He had to express himself.
“Yeah!”
Kevin nodded vigorously, mustering his courage to say, “I like it
a lot.”
Madeleine smiled warmly, her eyes encouraging Kevin to
