Chapter 72
She continued, “I was wrong to investigate Madeleine, I
apologize. I’ll help her get some payback to make up for it. That
should be enough, right?”
“Mm.”
Roderick’s furrowed brow relaxed. “That’s more like it.”
After chatting with Rebecca for a few more moments, Roderick
hung up. He was about to go back to the dining room to eat
when his phone rang again.
In the dining room, Madeleine was holding half a glass of juice, craning her neck to look in the direction where Roderick had just disappeared while she drank.
It’s been so long…
A phone call this long?
How interesting.
Kirsten came out of the kitchen with a fresh batch of Savory
Soup Dumplings and couldn’t help but laugh when she saw
Chapter 72
Madeleine puffing her cheeks while sucking hard on her juice.
“Ma’am, do you have a grudge against that juice?
You’re about to bite through the straw.”
Madeleine slammed the glass down on the table. “Kirsten!
I want braised pig’s trotters!
Now!
Right now!
Immediately!”
Kirsten was taken aback. “Something so greasy this early in the
morning?”
Just as she finished speaking, a certain ‘braised pig’s trotter‘
walked in after finishing his call, looking a bit confused when he
heard that.
“You’re eating that for breakfast?”
Madeleine pouted. “Can’t I?”
“Yeah, we can… but let’s do it tomorrow. We don’t have time

today.”
“Don’t have time?
What’s going on today?”
Roderick hesitated for a long moment before finally saying, “My
dad just called. He wants us to come over for lunch.”
Madeleine’s eyelid twitched.
She was going to meet Roderick’s dad!
?
Before Madeleine could even react, Kirsten’s voice trembled
from the side, “Sir, you’re not actually planning to take
Madeleine with you, are you?”
Kevin got nervous too. “Dad, why don’t you just go by yourself?
Mom and I will stay home.”
Madeleine looked at them in surprise, then a corner of her
mouth twitched as she understood.
The past version of herself must have caused some trouble at the Livingston family’s house.
Chapter 72
Roderick’s father was a very serious man. When Madeleine was
little, she heard people say that the only reason Roderick didn’t
go astray was thanks to his father’s strict discipline.
Roderick’s parents divorced when he was very young.
Madeleine didn’t have much of an impression of his mother,
only remembering that she was a beautiful and unique artist.
After the divorce, Mrs. Livingston went abroad to pursue her
dreams, while Owen Livingston raised Roderick and managed
the company on his own.
Back then, he really liked Madeleine, and every time he saw her,
he would smile and say he wanted a daughter just like Maddie.
Sigh… It looked like she had disappointed Owen, too.
“It’s okay.”
Roderick knew what everyone was worried about and
comforted them in a low voice, “I’m here.”
Madeleine felt a sense of peace hearing that, but Kirsten and
her son didn’t think the same way. Their gazes toward Roderick
were filled with more pity and worry.
After breakfast, she went back to her room and called Clarissa

Mosley first.
“Maddie, what’s wrong?”
Clarissa’s voice sounded cheerful. Ever since her daughter lost
her memory and stopped causing trouble, her back didn’t ache,
her legs didn’t hurt, and she even had a spring in her step!
“Mom, Roderick said he’s taking me to his dad’s place for dinner
later. Do you think I should buy something to bring over?”
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line.
Then, a gloomy voice came through, “Just bring your brain.
Don’t bring the memories from those eight years…”
